Congrats DVD Connoisseur and TFS the pics of that bottle with us.
Yes, it's possible to get, through my Liquor Board, the bottle from the U.K. but the whole thing will cost me...the price of another bottle Shocked
So, instead of paying Cnd $125 I'll have to add another $100 for transport/fees/exportation/border tariffs, etc)

Too much for my liking Evil or Very Mad

Yes, thanks for the nice pictures ! Very Happy

I have a question though :

The person in the UK who accepted to order the bottle at Amazon.co.uk says it will be shipped today (or so).
Now, I live in France. I know that for private use, you have the right to import alcohol (especially from within EU) if the quantity is less than 10 litres.

How does it work on Royal Mail's side ? Is it authorized to send as a gift one bottle of whisky to someone living in France ?
Could someone in the UK give me an advice here ?

In addition to the question above: I read that part of the problem with sending alcohol is the substance itself, that it's considered dangerous to transport... has anybody any experience with Royal Mail's policy on this?

From this list it seems alcohol is considered a prohibited item...?

Well, you're right.

here : https://business.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/863

there is also a PDF where it is explained. Apparently it's not authorized to send a bottle between 24-70 °vol OH to international countries.
Huh.

UPS won't handle it either... and so I'm guessing the same applies to FedEx...

I'm looking into a company called TNT, they say they'll ship anything... I'm sure it'll be expensive... Plan B is shipping the bottle empty.

Plan B for me will be the guy bringing the bottle in person (he'll visit us by the end of the year), but still...

I know UK has strict regulations... (for example I had no real trouble with importing Tome blasters in France)

This UK website offers international shipping : https://www.thewhiskyexchange.com/customerservice/delivery-charges

Special courier ? DHL ?

Called customer service, they said they're currently out of stock but are waiting for confirmation from the distributor and are happy to add interested parties to a waiting list.

I put a call in to a popular package store in Atlanta they couldn't confirm anything. considering the list nc-wilm-fx posted. I'm not going to hold my breath. Might have to call some folks in WA, see if I can track one down.

So, How are companies like Master of Malt getting around the shipping thing? They are one of the first companies that I called and, although they don't have confirmation that they are getting any, yet, they ship pretty much worldwide and are located in the UK.

So awesome. Serious question... does anyone plan on opening theirs? I'm getting two and I was toying with the idea of opening one.
