Hey Skin-Job, is it too late to put another name down for the storage box? Even if it unfortunately is, following the thread am really interested to see how it turns out! |

Elim9,
If you read back through the post, you'll see there were only 10 of the Steyr badges available.
Despite all efforts, I can't find any more.
THIS run, of THIS box is full at present. Someone may drop out at the time of payment, though, as usually happens.
But it's full for now.
Even the prototype I'm making is spoken for.
If there's enough interest, I may do another run with an aternate badge. I have a plan for that. |

Small update.
Got the cutting die back from the maker and tested it today, works great.
I cut a leatherette faced foam test piece I'll put in the prototype box.
The screw provided with the corners are crap, wrong size, ugly. I've ordered the correct ones and will get them in a day or two. A2 stainless, raised posi drive.
I'm making the pattern for the leather box-top panel and will test it in the next day or two. |

Those lucky enough to get on the list should be thrilled with the outcome. If you are unfamiliar with Skin-job's work, be prepared to be amazed.

Skin-Job
Please consider me as well if someone in the original group of ten should drop out for any reason. It looks like a very promising project, quite impressive. _________________ "Stray dogs that live on the highway walk on three legs, cause they learn too slow to get the message." |

Thank you.
What I'll do is, rather than starting an 'also interested' list, is to see where we are at the end of this run.
Things change, people drop out when it comes time to settle up, it happens.
I am planning another run of these if we can get 10 interested. But they will have an alternative to the domed chrome Steyr badge.

OK! I have been given a pic of the updated plaque to display here.
This has all the final changes and will NOT be amended further, but we thought those awaiting the first run would like to see it -

I'm slammed with other work at the moment.
I have the new screws, I'll try to get the sample box done as soon as possible.

The prototype/sample should be done this weekend, and I'll be able to post pics for your collective perusal. I've been buried in work and unable to get the time to finish it.
The wooden boxes require a period of drying out after staining and before the finish is applied. With the temperatures, this will take longer now than it would in warmer weather.
Rather than force dry the wood and risk warping, I'd like to set up a warm drying table in my gently heated and dehumidified shop and let them dry in a 'natural' environment.
So, with the Christmas madness already in full swing here in the UK, I'm strongly tempted not to try and ship these until the first week of Jan.
I'm sorry if anyone was looking to get theirs before Xmas, but I'd rather do it right, than right now.
Karl

OK, so I managed to get enough time to get the proto/sample box done.
I attached the first version of the VIN plate in the position it was designed for.
I'll get some shots of the box this morning and post a link to pics ASAP.
