Cratercritter,
On the list. Thanks.
Just so everyone knows, I learned my lesson on the MK1 run and won't be taking any notes, advice, or design suggestions. Nor will there be anything on offer other than the same box, made the same way, for everyone.
I'm not getting into a situation where I'm making ten different boxes.
PM on the way CC.

Hello everyone.
We're still waiting for one more to complete the ten units for the MK2 run.
The Bronze Box.
I have some work to clear before I can begin these, but we'll get going as soon as the list is full.
Many thanks for your patience.

The price will be the same as the MK1 boxes.
USD$250.00 each, plus shipping (usually around $30)
The next thing to happen will be the production sample. A finished box, stained, lacquered, fitted with the hardware, and the foam cut out liner, etc.
That won't be until we have the ten parties locked, and the deck is cleared of current work commitments.
Shouldn't be long.

OK,
the deck-clearing is going well and I should be clear of the backlog of work from Xmas soon.
It should be noted, that I can't start any work of any kind on the production sample of the box until we have ten interested parties on the list.
9 down, 1 to go....

Put me down for the 10th spot, please, Karl!
I missed your first run. Don't plan on missing this one.
Question: would you consider punching holes in the foam for the bullets, since a loaded gun is never kept in a display box? |

Welcome Bwade Wanna,
The tenth spot is yours. Thank you.
If there are others who wish to join, please do.
The minimum is ten, but the run is open ended.
I would consider punching bullet holes, but we run into the same problem as the VIN-plate;
Everyone has a different idea of where they go, how big they are, how many.
On the first run, I eventually left the plate loose so the individual could decide where it went.
What I want to avoid, is having to make ten different boxes according to each person's tastes. Can't do it.

I know it's being made to fit the Tomen, but does anyone know if a Sidkit would fit? |

I just checked with a resin Coyle, and it fits very well.
The gripframe is a little shorter, but it fits fine.

So, some progress on finalizing the look of the new box.
I tested the clearcast amber logo. It's not a look I like. The shapes don't work well in the clear amber.
So, another approach.
Crattercritter kindly pointed out a design of badge which is very cool.
It's a classic Steyr logo, old school.
I'm having a vector artwork done for that logo, and I'll have them laser etched from the very same 'brushed bronze' the new VIN Plates are made from.
They'll match exactly.
Next, I need to get the sample steel case corners copper plated.
More as it happens,

The new artwork for the laser etcher has been fnished by Replicant 13. It looks great.
We took a vintage style of Stery badge and R13 rebuilt the logo to clean and tidy it, and to correct the innaccuracies in the lettering and concentric circles, etc.
From this he produced a vector graphic which I sent on to my laser etcher.
He's going to produce a sample badge, in the same brushed bronze as the VIN Plate, for me to approve.

All -
I was unaware (and surprised) when it was revealed that there was an earlier Steyr logo. In my earlier research for the plaque, I thought I'd found every version. Nice catch, Critter!
At a glance, it appears identical to the more commonly known version, but there are subtle but significant differences.
As Skin-job stated, this will have the distinction of reflecting that vintage look, while being new.
Like many here, can't wait to see the outcome. - R13 _________________ Gosh, you've really got some nice toys here . . . |

So,
The new Steyr logo is being test etched now.
I sent the steel corner protectors to be copper plated this morning. There are 8 per box.
I would not expect them back inside of two weeks, minimum.
The plan is to brown patinate the copper plated corner pieces, then weather them a bit to show a little copper 'wear' on the edges.
I already have the 'brushed bronze' VIN plates in hand.
The wooden boxes are on order.
I ordered the additional antique brass lid catches today.

Great timing too since my Tomenosuke is finally shipping after ordering months ago. |

So, here is the test etching of the new Steyr logo and the Vin Plate for the MK2 box.
I think the older retro logo looks great in the bronze

It's been lightly idealized and corrected.
It's not supposed to be a slavish replica of the orignal (asymmetrical, hand drawn) badge.
More of a light re-think.
When you say 'should be', that would apply to a replica....

Na....
I meant "should be" as in "It would look better to the eye to have more black around the STEYR word". Aesthetically more pleasing to my eye. The STEYR word looks too cramped from an appearance point of view....not from an exact copy or replica point of view.
