Colin, those 2 pics that didn't load are the ones you're seeing in my post (I edited the post twice, actually, to make sure they were showing).

The little "silver rod" in the pics indicates the stopper I had to insert into the machine to make sure the arm would stay upright.

Since it was a static prop and that the arm/eye were the only "moving parts", I had to device a trick to make believe that the arm was standing by itself.

Quick video update (very short one) on looking at the center of rotation for the VK arm raise. https://youtu.be/FRiYC7dSQvU

I initially put this together in early December but couldn't get around to editing and posting it until this month. In summary, my basic findings support the diagram that 8th Passenger put up earlier in this thread.

I think I see it how LBM sees it. Though I might be wrong here (on both accounts)!

To me the plate on the back of the arm with the angled edge, suggets the pivot point is offset.

Illustrated here in my WIP arm assembly.

Lets not even mention how little detail you can see on that arm.

It could be back to the drawing board. Or the DVD first.

Looking good, that's what I did with mine, off center was the solution to the raising/spacing of the servo-box of the arm in relation to the whole.
Keep up the great work Cool

Great post LBM. As joberg says, looking really good.

To get my centre I was just stabbing in the dark on a trace overlay. I like your geometry method. A lot more professional.

I tried out that shape configuration on my swing arm and it works wonderfully.

Fred, my VK project is very much on hold at the moment. Still looking for the perfect size monitors. Also I haven’t had access to the machinery I need, not to mention I needed to give my brain a rest.

Colin, I can definitely understand your concern about finding the right monitors... and I'm sure we'll be once again blown away by your work and research the day you'll finally be ready to post a new update on your VK !

Cool
