Hi everyone!
It's been ages since I visited here regularly as I mainly check the facebook page, but I was poked a reminder to post this buildup, from a run of kits I'm doing, so here we go!
I've been wanting to do this one a long time and finally got around to it. (The last BR prop I did was K's blaster with screen accurate functionality and I'll be doing the portable Voight Kampff with electronics in the near future.)
My plan with this version was to follow the pencil sketch as closely as possible and I think it's turning out better than I expected. Another thing I wanted to do was keep the odd-looking trigger and little side greeblies.
The idea was also to have a working barrel break and moving trigger.
All parts are printed on my Formlabs resin printer, in a combination of different resins. I did clear grips, so that I could match Deckard's PKD, but I also printed RUBBER grips in flexible resin.
Here are some photos of the current status:
The original sketch overlaid on my 3d model

Testing the barrel break (with rubber grip)
First version of the rubber grip was a little too wide. here shown with some support material still attached.
I have a screw running through the grip, holding it in place.
The clear grip. It's frosty from the alcohol bath, but will go back to crystal clear later as you'll see!
Final version of both grip variants.
Near-final versions of all the parts.
The clear grip, after spraying with Tamiya Clear Orange (mixed with a couple drops of smoke clear), then coated with a thick layer of rattle can clear.
I'll post more when I'm further along in the build! _________________ //Joe

WOW, awesome project, reminds me of the fun I had modifying a rather close Sidkit gun years ago in order to make my own version. (it had lights in the handle, but the handle wasn't transparent)
Can't wait to see more !!!

I recall seeing that somewhere! Initially I toyed with the idea of having the buttplate cast in clear resin too, but it would be overkill with the grip. _________________ //Joe

Great to see you here! Saw your build on the RPF and it's so cool that you've tackled that prop with that level of quality |

Thanks guys. : )
Some photos of my first completed copy. Really pleased with the 'worn bluing' effect I got using graphite and clear blue acrylic. The next one will have a chrome barrel and black grips.
