Looks like you got yourself some future collectables. I have no doubt that HD DVD will become wildly collectable in the future. Hope you got one of the HD DVD briefcases, Amish...

I may pick up one of the 'super clearanced' HD-DVD players, just so I can watch BR in HD-DVD, of course that would be when I get the HD TV's at discount too....errrr, nevermind. If Toshiba had waited it out I think they would have done better. Right now the main people buying the TV's and therefore the players are Videophiles that have no problem spending the big bucks. When the TV's become cheaper and more mainstream, then a cheaper player alternative would have done well as well, as VHS had done before it. Unfortunately DVD is still a decent quality alternative for the masses and will most likely serve as the "VHS" to Blue Rays "Laser Disc" for a long time to come.

I remember TDB from back in the early days; I had a Creative Labs DVD-ROM drive and the MPEG-2 hardware accelerator card. Happy memories!

TDB was a great resource for film fans in the UK. At that time you Americans really did get all the first releases. Anyone else remember Reel.com and their slightly insane shipping policy? Order a few months worth of new titles and only pay one lot of shipping, despite them sending them out individually? Very sad to see the company change direction.

I digress. I first heard about the BR:FC briefcase edition there, and still drop in regularly. Always glad to see that the site hasn't been 'redesigned' into the usual bland generic corporate layout. Smile
