Well, no suprise here!

http://io9.com/347844/all-the-best-futuristic-guns-for-your-holster

Quote:
# Deckard's hand-cannon in Blade Runner: Deckard's gun was an amalgam of several other guns, namely the .44 Bulldog and a Styer Model SL. For the movie, they added some winky-blinky lights and a massive grip, making the thing look like it came off of a tank. And who could forget those massive CHOOMPF sounds it made when Harrison Ford fired it? This wasn't a little popgun, it had some real kick to it. It certainly wouldn't be very comfortable to wear in a holster under your coat, but it would give you some serious intimidation skills when you whipped it out.

The one weapon not on the list that I'd like to see placed there is the 'weirding module' from David Lynch's DUNE.

I'd include Doc Savage's super machine pistols that could fire explosive rounds, "mercy" bullets containing knockout drugs, armor piercing rounds, whatever was required. I don't know that I remember an actual depiction of one, but I heard that bull-fiddle roar when a A-10 Warthog ripped off that 30 mm Avenger Gatling gun. Or at least, that's what I imagine that one would sound like from the story decriptions.

Sort of retro-sci-fi futuristic.

You'd think so, but Leon just slaps it out of his hand.

Neat list... I do wish they'd picked better vintage ray guns for their pic of vintage ray guns. But then again, I'm a geek of the highest order and care about those things more than is probably healthy...

Cenobite, I'm definitely down with the weirding module... Also, as someone pointed out in the responses to that list, the MP35 from John Scalzi's Old Man's War would be pretty sweet.

That didn't exactly work out the best for old Leon in the end tho.

The funny thing for me is that The Samaritan is based on an antique French revolver designed in the 1800's, and even in the film, isn't the gun supposed to have been built for him in the 50's or 60's?

I know, I'm a gun geek.

Yes, I have it too.

I'm a big fan of Mike Mignola, and when I heard Sideshow was making it, I preordered the thing... Finaly, I was disappointed when I got it, mainly because it's too light and the cylinder is too short, it runs free and the bullets don't fit wery well into the chambers... but if you display it open, on a table, with some of the bullets aside, it looks good ! (I don't like the display stands, I prefer to put my props around, like "real" objects...)

Hope the new version will be better !!! (Yes, I've preordered it too) (Since it will be heavier, it'll be at least useful to punch monsters around, medieval style !)

Having missed out the first time I jumped at the chance to get an all metal (with wood grips) Samaritan. When you punch monsters with it, make sure you yell out a sound-effect appropriate BOOM just like Hellboy himself.
