I need to gauge interest to detemine if there are enough potential sales to justify startup and production costs. I also need to determine if people want the badges with the laquer finish my metalsmith uses to fill dark areas or if the badges. It is a hardy, professional finish that simulates the look of the Wordlcon badge.

The "POLICE 995" plate was based on my original prop. Mine has the imperfections i.e. it is not dimensionally symetric, etc. but apparently that's the way they made them for the movie.

As always, I do not take money until items are in hand and ready to ship, so this is an interest list, but I'd like only those who are serious about potentially buying a badge to reply please.

This is for a large silver colored, all metal BR badge based on the Worldcon find. It will be as shown here. The little, wallet badge is not currently available but is shown here to determine scale. The badge will be in two pieces (base and photo ring).

Here's how the ones for sale look compared to the Worldcon badge. Badges will be from the same mold as the raw, unfinished badge shown here.

Here is what I need to know regarding your choices. None of the options has a pin or fastener as that takes much more time and money to do as it requires low temperature soldering.

Prices shown are close estimates NOT inc. shipping.

1. Badge, picture ring and "Police 995" plate in raw metal finish $125.00
2. Badge, picture ring and "Police 995" plate in laquered grey/black finish $150.00
3. Badge, picture ring and NO "Police 995" plate in raw metal finish $100.00
4. Badge, picture ring and NO "Police 995" plate in laquered grey/black
finish $115.00

This is not a signup or commitment list, just an interest list for those seriously considering a purchase. Thanks for looking.

I am in for at least one #1 set as well. I may upgrade this depending on how prices end up.

The laquered grey/black finish would match the actual WorldCon badge, yes? I'd be in for one of the #2 sets if so.

OK,
I think there is enoughy interest to contact my metalsmith to do a handful of these big shield sets. Once I get a firm price from him, I will post the actual prices with shipping. Hopefully, the production price will be lower than my estimated price.

I have sent an initial order to the metalsmith to test the waters. He was very ill for many months and has recovered enough to return to work. I want to see if he is back to full steam, so we'll see what / when he produces. I will keep you posted.

Thanks for keeping us updated, eltee.

Not that it's any of my business, but was your metalsmith's illness work-related at all?

In any case, I hope he'll be feeling much better soon (and not just for the obvious selfish reasons Wink ).

Hi,

He apparently contracted some sort of cancer. He closed his one man shop for many months while undergoing radiation and chemo. I wasn't sure if I was going to hear from him again, but he emailed me to say he has reopened his shop.

Considering the metals, fumes, etc. that are involved in his work, I guess there is a possbility that the cancer was caused by work but I didn't ask.

To keep the first order simple, and to test the waters, I ordered a couple of sets finished and laquered. If he can do the complex ones, the raw, cast ones should be even easier for him to produce. I'll keep you all posted.

It sounds as if your metalsmith has had a tough fight these past months. He must be quite a strong-willed guy to come back from that, reopen his shop, and make contact with his clients to say he's back in business. But then having a strong will makes perfect sense for a man whose livelihood is forging metal.

Thank you very much again for keeping us posted. I've never been a guy who collects many "fantasy" (as opposed to screen-seen) props and replicas... but the concept and execution of your sets (including the recent Jaws Brody badge set made by you and sctcarts) is changing all that.

Please keep up the great work!

Metalsmith says he can handle the initial, small run in a week or so. He is doing them in "white bronze" which he says molds and finishes better than traditional pewter. I was told by someone else who knows about metals that white bronze is actually a better composition for this type of project.

Will keep you all posted. I also know some are interested in the smaller, wallet sized badges. I've got something planned for those as well.

Interested in a large FORCE set as stated in an earlier post -- and also interested in wallet sets for Bryant, Gaff, and Holden, if such projects are in the works.

Only "retro" sets for now. The circa 2019 ID cards have been done by many talented folks already. My next set will probably be my favorite character, Bryant. It portrays him in the year 2010 when he was still a lieutenant and back when replicants were probably only a little more sophisticated than C3PO.

Holden set was a special job, circa 2019 and based on the Worldcon ID card with the red "X" , etc.. Looked like this. Only did one "modern" version, the others will probably be retro as well.

Interested in your retro sets, too. Yours are actually the first sets that have interested me in adding "fantasy" (rather than screen-seen) props/replicas to my collection.

I know your Bryant set is at this point still a work in progress. Will you be customizing the recessed area in the wallet to fit the small FORCE shield perfectly?
