|
|
Hi everyone!!
I'm just so happy! I just yesterday received my Tomenosuke Kit!
Looking forward to blueing the parts etc. But in a fit of "can't wait", I wanted to assemble it and look at it before I could go buy some Blueing liquid.
With some major frustration on assembling the cylinder latch and triggers I got on to the hammer and inner handle... Would you believe it.. I'm missing one of the flatt slot screws... M3 L5... MY GOD!!! I'm going to send an email to Eno over at Tomenosuke..
These parts aren't really easy to distinguish from the assembly instructions.. Wish someone had made a video lol.
Any one else happen to have something similar happen?
I'm hoping I can use this tread as a build log and ask questions and get answers by the great people here on this forum |

Thank you!
I have now purchased a Birchwood Casey Perma Blue kit, and should be arriving in the next couple of days. I'll post pictures and guide to how I'm doing it. I have read many many guides to doing it, so hope I'll be able to get the finish I'm looking for.
I also got a reply from Eno from Tomenosuke. They don't have spare screws
So no begins the search for black, slotted countersunk M3-L5 screws. Or part 29. Hopefully I'll be able to locate the accurate screws before I'm finished with the blueing!
Stay tuned!

I know, but in their defence, its actually another company who puts them together.. Can't remember their name.
I wish they would label the screws or something, or at least have like 5 or 10 in a bag with a small note which details which screws/parts are in the bag, by number!
If someone gets the new 2014 retail edition, I hope they can post a scan of the instructions, if they update the manual that is. |

Update: I have found replacement screws and the blueing kit finally arrived today!
In my stupid haste/eagerness to get started, I did a half assed job on sanding... with only sanding with 400 grit dry and 0000 steel wool... as a result the blueing came out quite bad. I have since removed the blueing and will be doing a proper sanding job this coming week. Going from 320, 400, 600 wet and finish with 0000.
I have a question I would like to ask. How would I go forward in getting the same results (same level of bluing and shine) as this blaster?

It's been a while since I built my kit. However, after quite a bit of sanding with increasingly fine grits of sandpaper and then using the bluing liquid, it still came out blotchy. I used some car wax on the finish and it really made a nice, smooth blue on my blaster.
The one you posted was done by the artist who designed the kit. All I remember about the finish he achieved was that he polished the metal to a mirror shine first.
Good luck with the build.

Hey, I just got my kit in today and I'm missing the same exact screw! Do you have a link or anything to the one you found to replace your missing one?
Thanks,
-Shawn |

Hi Shawn! Sorry for the late reply!
I discovered that I am missing another screw on the grip.
Anyway, here are the ones I bought.

Hey TimeRanger, look at Bawde wanna use of a black Sharpie to do his "blueing". Easier to use than a blueing kit. |
