Thanks for the update Dascoyne—appreciate it.
I sent my Pre-Order request immediately after the US ordering instruction where given at hollywood-japan.jp. But now it's been a few days and I have yet to received any sort of acknowledgment of my order. I'm wondering if this means I didn't make the cut, or if they simply haven't got around to replying yet.
Anyone have any intel?
And yeah, I probably just need to relax and be patient |

I got my confirmation almost immediately. It might have made a difference that I submitted my payment in full to Mune's account without waiting for a reply. |

Hello,
After reading what the Retailer edition will be on their site, do you think that adding this one to a Pro model (not world-con) is a good idea or the 2 blasters are actually too similar?
I am not an expert on the differences between Tomenosuke's models, so your thoughts are appreciated.
Best,
Ben |

I asked Mune about the receiver finish on the new version - if it was like the wor-con or like the first pro. He said "Neither one. More like Police version." Does anyone know much about the police version finish? From a quick Google search it seems more uniformly matte but I'm not entirely certain.
Borrowing someone else's reference photo - the police version is on top:
I don't think it'll be the policed version per se but merely the finish. |

I don't have any inside info on the finish of the Retailer edition, but I would be surprised if it was like the Police version. The Tomenosuke Police edition is all matte black, that is correct. The Police props in the film were a black resin casting of Deckard's pistol I think (actually a casting taken before the gun was modified for Harrison Ford by cutting a pinky notch in the grip). |

And I noticed they posted a picture of the $3000-$7000 limited hand-built and hand-finished Tomenosuke pistols. It's a little misleading.

It's what Mune told me.
It may be that he was just referring to the matte finish of the Steyr receiver which was the focus of my question. But he did state that it was closer to the police than both the wor-con and "as issued" blaster. So it kinda sounds like a "clean" wor-con. |

Clean worldcon would be great in my opinion, but I believe the receiver was actually shiny metal originally. "As delivered to the set in 1981" would be the sweet spot. |

Nothing would please me more than if it had a shiny receiver. |

Hey Scene118. The changes in the finer details of the Tom-PRO that are incorporated in this retailer version are pretty well listed on the various websites. We just don't have a final description or photo of the proposed product... kept in the dark about the final look at the moment since maybe it is not finalised by the Tom-PRO designers.
It's up to you if you would be happy to buy one of these new retailer versions. Obviously any Tom-PRO that is released will always look similar to the ones before it. It is just in the finer details and finish, which comes down to your decision as to whether you like it or not.

A blued shiny-look receiver with blued shiny barrel and triggers, trigger guard would be nice. But that would be expensive and so it appears as though the final product will likely be a matt finish similar to the WOR-CON version of the Tom-PRO...just with a more orange/amber grip. And of course all the other detailed changes to the finer details.
Yes... I agree, the HCG website is somewhat misleading (even though they have their disclaimer stating that it is not the final product on show). They currently show the very cool looking highly polished blued versions....nice indeed but not likely what will be the final product. Another small run of hand built and finished blued/expensive versions may be up for grabs later I guess. |

Saw this one in person behind glass at HCG booth. Some pics from my friends phonecam from comicon...
Very flat black finish on this one. Even the trigger guard???

Thanks for the picture. That looks like the new Tom-PRO retailer version.
Mune of Hollywood-Japan said to me in email a few weeks ago that the upcoming Tom-PRO will have a matt black finish.
I like it....plus the matt black can be weathered or edge weathered more easily if one wants to later.

Thanks for posting pics. New blaster looks awesome. Not a fan of the flatfish black finish on the parts though. Prefer the original shinier finish. |

To my eyes, the finish on the receiver, triggers, and guard looks identical to that of the World Con model. If that's the case, I must say this finish looks better in person. The finish on the World Con model looks very different depending on lighting conditions, ranging anywhere from quite dark to very light silver, which I like because the receiver in the movie seems to vary a lot from one scene to another. My only wish is that it was more "satin-y" than matte. |

TFS the pics with us (and thank you to your friend also ).
Very nice finish on that one also. To tell you the truth, I like all the finishes and different variations you can obtain with that weapon (grips, blueing, chrome, etc). |
