Hmmm I live in OHIO, you gotta any info on the vacuum man?
It would be nice to have down the road. Very Happy

Here's one of his listings:

http://cgi.ebay.com/2-5cfm-Vacuum-Pump-and-3-Gal-Vacuum-Chamber-NEW-/250837790046?pt=BI_Pumps&hash=item3a6718ed5e

I AM NOT ENDORSING HIS PRODUCTS. I'VE NEVER USED ONE, NOR DO I KNOW THE SELLER/MANUFACTURER. They just looked liked they'd do the job for a reasonable price. Looks like he uses plexiglas for the lid instead of polycarbonate (which I recommend) but it looks like it's probably thick enough to be safe.

The barrels were cast slightly longer than the desired final length. Using a jig, I'm trimming the castings to length on the tablesaw, which leaves a nice clean end.

Then every casting get's chucked up in the lathe and bored out to .357", the correct I.D. for a .38 csliber.

Here's a before and after shot of the barrel casting.

Here are a few of the cast parts. The care and attention in the mold making process makes for very clean castings with little or no flash to remove. Very little parting line clean up. These castings are pretty much as they come straight out of the mold.

Very slick indeed. Mean Lean and Clean. Can't wait to buy a kit if you go ahead with casting some kits of these.

Oh, production casting is well underway! The first run will be 25 kits. Not sure yet on the price...

I finally got up the nerve to engrave the receiver. One chane, didn't want to mess it up and have to start all over! But it came out okay. Did it with the CNC router, pretty nice detail for a machine with a 24 x 48 capacity! The translucent blue material and slight whitish surface left by the engraver make the lettering difficult to see. I'll post some pics of a casting as soon as the mold is done.

The left side has the Goldberg Arms Logo, name and caliber.

I debated what to use for the model number for a long time. Rick Ross graciously consented to the use of PKD and I was sorely tempted as those letters have become synoymous wit blasters. But in the end I decided to leave those letters representing just his wonderful designs and label mine something else. I settled on QPW for Quantum Particle Weapon.

Excellent work Dave (as always)...didn't chime in concerning the mold tutorial (was on vacation and no access to a computer) very well explained as a step by step instruction: cool Cool

The inscriptions look really good. I'm glad you made it your own thing. I enjoy that, and it makes the kit more unique IMHO.

Man, I just can't wait to build mine!! This stuff turns me into a little kid, I swear.

sorry Dave, I just get so over-emotional/excited when I see this thread. Everyone seemed to be claiming a spot for one of your kits prior to my last post, so I just wanted to jump on board. For the time being I'll just sit back & relax. Wink
