Seeing how great those black grips look, I know a bunch of us would be happy with those, and then purchase the clear ones at a later date from you extra. Just an idea for an option anyway Wink

Well done Dave,

Andy

Phenomenal work. Thanks for both making these and sharing the process.
Looking forward to one to display next to the large version.

Some Good news, and some bad news and some good news.

The good news is that, in this recession, I got another day job! The bad news is that because of it, I'll only be able to work on the Snub Nose kits in the evenings and on weekends which will slow down production a bit. The good news is that, unlike the last "day job" this one is in town so I don't have to stop work entirely, like when I went to Atlanta for most of the summer.

Have no fear, the delay will be slight.

(This is exactly why I don't take advance payments!)

Thanks for the understanding! The new gig is working for Disney Imagineering, which as you can guess is one of the coolest places on earth! I've wanted to work there since I was a kid. It's pretty much a dream job. Plus they work civilized hours, 8 to 5, five days a week, and it's only a 20 minute commute, which is Los Angeles is rare.

... and there's free cereal for breakfast!

Congratulations on the Disney job. I disliked Disney untill I went to the park and now can't wait to go back.

The snubbie is looking fantastic.

Thanks, it's still full speed ahead on the Snubby, just maybe not as full. I'm hoping to start casting the grips this weekend.

Any chance of a fully finished version?

For right now, probably not, just because they take so long to finish and paint. (I have very high standards so it just can't let myself "slap" 'em together!) When I produced the Kelvin Phaser kit earlier this year I built up six as finished pieces and they took me too long.

If you don't want to build one yourself you might want to throw it out to the others in the forum, see if anyone can help you out for a reasonable price.

Here are a pair of "faux" ivory grips inscribed with Japanese Kanji characters. The left grip is a translation of "To Protect and to Serve", the motto of the Los Angeles Police Department. The right grip is a translation of "Goldberg Arms", roughly "Gold Mountain Weaponry".

Fantastic Dave!!

On the subject of the grips.. is it possible to do a set of clear see-thru grips instead of the amber?

If it means a higher price no problem - let me know…

Warmest regards to the Mouse…

Mark,

For right now, I've tinted the entire container of resin to get a consistent amber color. I'll have to let you know if and when I buy more resin if it can pour a set before the material is tinted.
