Quote: | I am being super speculative based on my somewhat limited knowledge of the prop, but from what I see in the movie, the graphics were basically piped in from the Beta tape hidden in the briefcase |
Just as a point of interest the videos were produced in the UK and were PAL on the Umatic format. The jittering of the screens looks like it may be down to the PAL tapes being played on NTSC equipment. _________________ More human than human |

Interesting...do we know where the V.K. scene were shot? U.K or U.S? That could explain the PAL/NTSC theory. |

They were shot in the UK during Nov 1981 and so were PAL.
That goes for the Esper sequence, Spinner displays and vidphone.
The Sequences used for Alien were obviously made earlier but were made by the same video company. _________________ More human than human |

Hi Joberg
Sorry i mislead you a little in the last post, the vidphone inserts were not filmed in the uk, what i meant to say was they were transfered to video by the company in the UK. Not sure why the uk was used at all actually although there was 27 days post production here. I am going through paperwork i have to try and find out exactly what all that time was for. _________________ More human than human |

Just sayin'...I did some tape transfers in my time (another planet I should say ) and I don't remember the same effect if I played a PAL tape on a NTSC machine: usually the jitter and noise is much more than the one you see in the movie sometime you'd have a snowy screen with black lines..maybe the effect was made on purpose for looks |
