svander,
I'm glad it arrived AOK.
I know what you are talking about where the seal is concerned.
Keep in mind that each and every one is made by hand by me.
Each and every one is unique, no two are the same and
while some of the detail on yours may not be quite as strong as you would like, remind me if you will...
what image appears on the seal in the movie? Very Happy

Mine arrived yesterday in perfect shape. Thank you so much Paul!!

The only thing I noticed is that the red wax JW "coin" maybe wasn't "pressed" hard enough and you can't really tell there's a "Walking Johnnie" in it. No big deal though.

I thought that at first too untill I looked at the actual logo and realized it was pretty much exact. maybe it is the lack of contrast that makes it hard to make out at first. All in all any complaints I have seem pretty petty and not worth mentioning, This bottle is far and above my expections.

Thanks Andy...
After making two entire batches of the seals (60-70per batch) and rejecting the first batch entirely (remelting and starting over) I went back to the movie and rewatched the scenes in which we see the seal on the bottle...again, I could never make out ANY detail inside that thing.

My final conclusion was that I would be happy with a plain red seal with NO detail at all...as long as it's attached to that bottle!

Ofcourse, there will always be something that could be done better and while I had the hand stamp of the Walking Man machined for me out of aluminum the rest of the stamp making supply's came from a craft store and a Fred-Meyer (the sealing wax and the foil I poured it on)

I can't say definitively that the Walking Man is whats on that seal, it could actually be a classy looking cursive J.W. and I know they sell letter seals at different places...I used a cursive "T" to make the gold seal on my Tsing-Tao Bottle.
I guess I'm saying that you could try making one for yourself now that you know how it was done and it will probably look ten times better than the one I came up with...ultimately it's about what makes you happy.
Play around with it...just be sure to come back and share your results! Very Happy

Oh and don't be too surprised when you ask for sealing wax at the craft store and they give you a blank look.
The ladies I talked to were certain they didn't even make the stuff anymore let alone call it "Sealing Wax"...Imagine their surprise when we found it AND it was labeled exactly that. Laughing

The final technique I used to pour them up after LOTS of failed experimentation (meaning I lit the little wick on the wax and dribbled it as they expect you too) was to use a little hot-plate and a flat bottomed ladel.
I kept the hot-plate at about a medium heat with the ladel resting on it and dropped the wax whole into the ladel as needed.
Being able to pour the whole thing all at once rather than drip by drip allowed each seal to cool uniformly without the concentric rings that form when doing it the other way.

I do have LOTS of left over sealing wax, bottle labels and ribbon...maybe I'll offer a BR Whiskey Bottle emergency back-up kit... Rolling Eyes

I have noticed that on most bottles that have a "wax seal" thay are usually plastic, making this one more "authentic" in a way Wink

I think I figured out why the logo isn't recognizable at first. I think it may be a gestalt(sp?) thing. Since it is made up of raised parts the mind tries to seperate them instead of connecting them. When you hold it to the light at an angle to get more of a shadow, the figure magically apears.

I have been going over the movie(standard dvd) to get the placement of the labels as best as I can, and I agree the seal seems pretty basic. I suppose it could have been taken off of another bottle. The one from Paul looks damn near perfect as far as I can tell.

Obviously i'm a little late for the party... But if there are any spare bottles, I would absolutely love to buy one.

I've just discovered this marvellous forum, and I never imagined I could actually own props from Blade Runner.

Thanks,

David

Hey David, welcome to the forum. From now on you will never have a spare penny to your name!

And if there is a waiting list for one of the bottle (which I doubt there is), you should be something like number 256 on the list. Laughing

I really wanted to avoid this as much as possible, at least until all the bottles are shipped out but, I will address this here and now because, as more people recieve their bottle and post pics of it, the interest is growing again in secondary bottles and I'm getting slammed with e-mails...

There are only a few "GOOD" bottles left and I have decided to auction them on E-Bay.
The first Whiskey Bottle to go up will be paired with a Tsing-Tao Bottle and both will be offered on a lighting bottle glorifier made in a style to reflect the Tyrell office.
ALL those on the secondary bottle list will be notified of the auctions as to when they will take place and in fairness I will also post a link to those auctions here.
The rest of the bottles I have available are of the slightly cracked variety and will come with a COA, labels and CAP Tutorial. I havent decided yet how to offer these cracked bottles but I would really rather NOT deal with ANY secondary Bottle sales until
AFTER ALL THE BOTTLES THAT HAVE BEEN PURCHASED ARE SHIPPED.
I certainly won't be putting up any bottle auctions until after all purchased bottle are shipped.
If someone askes, please refer them to this note.
Thanks All...keep those pics coming!

I would add a note of caution to all those who partake in "snuggling" their bottle...
It tends to piss-off the girl-friend so I recommend leaving the bottle out of the bed-room.

I would like to state for the record that it's not the snuggling that annoys me. It's the calling out of the name that gets on my nerves.

YAY!

Unless there is another David H. in the forums my baby is on the way! WOOHOO!

Thanks Paul. I really hate this turned out so sour for you as far as the manufacturing. I really hope it doesn't turn you off altogether. I promise that the ones that go smooth more than make up for the ones that go rough.

Plus, look how happy you have made us all!

Cheers!

That would be sweet cause ive played with mine too much and might need some new labels soon. And a tip for new players, make sure you
take the time to clean the glass before applying the labels, i didnt.
