Posted: Tue Nov 30, 2010 11:16 pm Post subject: Display for Offworld Blaster |
|
|
I am happy/not so happy to announce my recent purchase of an Offworld Blaster. While it has many drawbacks, it was frankly all I could afford. And a so-so blaster is better than no blaster at all.
My question is, since I am not really handy or a build it yourself kind of guy (yet), is there a display stand out there for purchase to show off the Offworld blaster? Again it would have to be something on the cheap as it were. I'd be thrilled with wall mountable but guess that might put it out of my price range. Heck at least some acrylic thing to stand it up on would do for now?
Any suggestions?

Welcome to the board! And congrats on your acquisition of the Offworld.
A friend of mine has the OW, and despite its flaws it's not so bad. Actually several folks here have repainted theirs and made quite nice pieces out of them!
I have nothing to suggest for a stand but I am betting somebody will chime in soon with suggestions.
Best

I tried to reach Richard Colye at that address (rcaprops@cox.net) and got the infamous delivery failure notice. Does anyone have the correct address? |

That is his correct mail address , but he's also a member here on this forum - try a mail to rcaprops , if you still can't get a reply let me have your email address and I'll forward it on to him , I mail him constantly. |

Questions,...
Ask and you shall receiv-er.
This is an inverted and tuned upside down Zip Dick case, as is when you buy it.
Here is the same one with a little modification and "my favorite" SUPERGLUE- stick to anything!! oops. got cared away.
Also need a razor saw to cut it down.
They are showing an Offworld for size reference.
Hope this helps. |

I've done this in the past. It wasn't made for the blaster shown. When done right, the blaster sits parallel to the surface....

Now that I have some time on my hands I may be able to get my display stands project up and running again. I have a handful that need to be finished. My guy who made my blanks did them differently making it much harder to finish them this time. If I can get them done quickly I will put in another order for more anyway. I am still looking for someone with a laser cutter to make the blanks quicker and cleaner for me, and maybe put on some artwork too. Then bending them will be the only step needed after that instead of a ton of precise dremmel work on each. I am also hoping to make them a little taller so they can accommodate PKD-1s and other longer grip guns without touching the standing surface.

Sweet!! Much nicer than a ZIP disk.
What?? Ok I had a buch of old disk sitting around collecting dust.
As far as art work goes,.. What do you have in mind? Maybe like a weapons permit style card?
I have these as clean versions, as I created them. The PKD line art is not mine, but I do have new PKD line art of this that I did create and would swap it out of the file if you wanted to use it.
Or something completely different if you have any ideas.
I have time at the moment as I am currently looking for a permanent art gig due to obamanomics putting the cobosh on my old job.
Let me know if you are interested. _________________ "No choice pal,..."

The artwork I was thinking about is something simple and that can be seen through the clear stand from both sides (reversable). Perhaps simplified versions of the Steyr logo, ot the police hat eagle without words. I already have the BR Running man logo, but find it kind of cheesy for this purpose. Maybe even the FLW ennis house tile. Any other ideas welcome.

FLW Ennis House tile??? I don't know?? do you have an example?
Oh wait you mean like your Avatar - the tile on the walls of Deckard's apartment? ( I just realized this as I posted this )
Ok, here are a few variations on a logo. I might not even be in the ballpark, My motto has always been "sucks, do it over" So do not worry about hurting my feelings.
The "Client" is ALWAYS RIGHT
G is the one that is probably closest to what you are looking for.
So let me know what you think.

I was thinking of a version of this without the Steyr text...
There can't be any text at all unless it is symmetrical, because it will be displayed both facing toward and away and seen through the plastic.
Also something like this without the police text...
or even this..
It will also only be 2 inches wide so it has to be pretty simple. No text.
