I love my Tomenosuke blaster! It's my Holy Grail.
But one thing bothered me, & I had to fix it.
This was probably the most stressful mod I've ever done. One slip up &
I'm proper f**ked!
But I pulled it off. & could not be happier.
The "laser/sight rod"
It's sits out nearly 3/16 (5mm) for you European guys. Out away from
the receiver wall.
So I made a fixture to mount in a vice. Letting me cut a perfect slot in
the rod.
Then I did the same for the mag cover. Milled it .065 x .070
A perfect fit. I used a Dremel to smooth the corners.
And BING !!! Look at that shit !!!
Door shuts perfect, rod is 100% straight w/ all the lines of the gun.
& their is just enough space to slide a credit card.
Before.
After.
Let me know what you think?
And before anyone asks...
I am willing to do the mod for any of you Tom-Pro owners.
However. I will NOT guarantee success.
I will give it 110% as if it's my life's blood. But shit happens. & I will
not take responsibility for random acts of God. When it comes to this
thing. So if you want the mod? You'll have to take your chances.
Just like I did.
To do the mod I only need the cover w/ the rod attached.
The cost is $100. that includes US return shipping. $115. for overseas.
There is no charge until I'm done & it's right.
I posted here, because I don't expect anyone to have the ......
Desire/balls to roll the dice on this mod. _________________ Que la Force soit avec toi |

IF I may: The original was more accurate to the real prop.
SEE:
Just thought you might want to know...
I worked hard to get that detail right as did they.

I would say that Qz's is more ideal. The original is the original and the Tomenosuke is a little too outrigged for my taste.
I think Oz's is a great compromise between accurate and ideal. Better than the Tomenosuke, in my humble opinion.

I know it LOOKS better.
I just felt you should know what was on the real prop.
We fight this question all the time.
Accurate to the real props flaws and pimples and all or clean up and fix "mistakes" ??
I do it as well, most of my models are ordered with the wires to the rod hidden.
And without the cracked left side cover, without the rust of the found prop, without the cracked and chipped grip ETC. (I could go on...)
But you get the idea.

Yep, that takes so cojones to do that transfo and I'm glad it worked for you Oz.
That said and as Rich has pointed out, every gun could be "customized" to look like the original (warths and all) but I feel that the Tome is of another look and feel and as is, can be improved to be "perfect" in that Tome design
Btw Oz, I'll PM you: I have a question for you concerning metal work |

Ya.. Rich, I'm well aware of the fact that what I did, makes it less accurate. However, it looks better. And that's what I'm after.
The Tomenosuke comes w/ a souvenir brochure filled w/ dozens of photos of the real prop. So you can compare, I guess?
The fact is. No replica is 100% accurate. You can get really close if you have enought reference material.
But that's the truth.
If you consider the finish of the Tomenosuke, It's not even close to the "real" gun. The details are amazing! All the bells & whistles
are great. The material it's made of is wonderful. It's heavy & strong enough that you feel comfortable playing w/ it.
When I show it off, I don't have to panic if someone pulls the trigger or cycles the bolt.
That in it's self is makes it worth every penny.
Honestly, I love the BRB because it's the f**king coolest gun I've ever seen. It could have been from the last starfighter,
and I'd still have the same passion for it. A hot chick, is a hot chick! & the BRB is Selma Hayek.
If their is one thing I've learned in my 10yrs of making Lightsabers. It's that 96.8% of people, DO NOT. want a screen accurate replica.
They want what appeals to the eye. From day 1, I've offered pristine finish & weathered (screen accurate) finish. 96.8% took the pristine.
That's an actual demographic. I kept track of.
Also, 99% of the "true die hard screen accurate enthusiasts" are lunatics.
Who after 10 minuets of enduring their insanity, you want to punch in the face.
Now, in general.
This hobby is supposed to be fun? Collect what you want. Buy what you like. Make whatever changes you think looks better.
Built your own shit, your way. Who cares!!
I moved my sight post because, before I did. It looked out of place, & got on nerves. It's that simple.
If I owned the "real screen used prop"? ...I'd do it to that one too! Psych !!! LoL God, could you imagine?
I'd burn in Hell for sure:)
Anyway..
My Tome.. is my toy. I loved it before, & now I love it more. I know they're other people out there who suffer from the same issue.
"I know it's accurate, but this one part bug the hell out of me".
Then, instead just saying f**k it! You spend god knows how long, on the fence. "Do I dare?"
& all that time, you never truly enjoy what you have. If you were a true SA nut? You would love the fact that it looked like shit,
because that ugly f**ked part is "right".
The only person who has to like or approve of your stuff, is you! If some tool on the RPF thinks I'm out of my mind? Let him.
He's probably the same guy who has an Anatomy text book next to his Hustler's. So he can learn how to toss off more efficiently.
No imagination, no creativity & no balls!
My dream is.. Someday own the screen used Luke ROTJ hero lightsaber.
I know it only has 15 seconds of screen time. But I don't care. It's been my favorite since I was a kid.
Then once I have it, I'll move that stupid tri-ring to the back. Opposite the control box, where it belongs!
Post tons of photos on the RPF.
And giggle my ass off for the rest of my life watching them have aneurisms & strokes over a f**kin' d-ring. LoL
Yah! dream the good dream _________________ Que la Force soit avec toi |

Couldn't have said it better Oz. It's your stuff, you do whatever you want with it, period.
Now you'll tell me when you'll move that ring on that original ROTJ lightsaber, so I can buy enough popcorn and see the spectacle on the RPF |

I have known Oz for a long time.
We have had multiple arguments and discussions about accuracy versus ideal as far as props go. I can think of many times me saying “ and don’t forget this” and he replies “that is f@#$ing stupid” . lol.
I do respect his right to do what he likes and often times other people including myself see his point.
He sees he can make it better and he does at the very least for himself.
Let’s put it this way, Oz is the type of guy to buy a brand new les paul custom, take it home, rip it apart and stain the fret board and replace the pickups before he goes to bed that night.
Wait, he is that guy, he just did that and he did cause it’s what he likes |

Another balsy move on that Les Paul Oz (Heavy Metal?).
Not to highjack the thread, but I think that I get what Oz did with the Tome.
Stop me if I'm wrong here: it might not always be the better that is achieved, but rather the unique.
Making a piece manufactured into the hundreds is not necessarily unique right? But transforming the piece so the side rod is now flush with the side plate of the gun makes it unique.
Is it "better"? Now for the owner of that prop it is!...and that's where the discussion should stop |

As one that changes everything I own, in fact my friends call it "Coyleizing" I would be the last person to say you cannot do that.
I was not complaining about his changing his stuff, just letting others know their own model (like the ones I make) are accurate to the original.

First, congrats on your customization work Ozwepaie. Gutsy thing to do, but the end product turned out looking great.
Secondly...

Your are quite right. I like to alter the mold. But not "just" to be different. I know what I like, & I know how to get it.
(...I want to destroy... poss-ab-lyyy)
Most things are 95% what I want. It's up to me to create the other 5.
In the case of my guitars. I will not mod somebody else, to match mine. There is a level of originality I like to have.
But w/ something like the Tome. I'm more then happy to help a brother out. Mainly because I know. Most of you can not
do it for yourselves. And accurate or not? It looks like the door is ajar. The gun itself is so nice, so amazing. That it's
just a shame to have that one thing... That just looks out of place.
Whats funny, is they (Tome) includes little bit & pcs to tweak your gun to your preference. For example. It comes w/ both,
the Weaver knob & the slotted screw. So I decide what I want on it.
They could easily design a way, that would let you alter the pitch on the door. It would look like a "wedge" & have two angles.
You would simply remove 2 bolts, swap the wedge & bolt it back on.
1: an accurate gap, 1: flush to the receiver.
I may have to pitch my plans/ideas to them myself?
Rich, I think your first post came off as if... I was supposed to feel guilty for dis-guarding all the effort that goes into making
an accurate prop?
And not a "clarification" that you meant it as. Either way. No harm, no foul. But when I spend over a grand for something?
I'll "Ozz-ify" the shit out of it. I don't care who's ego gets bruised. LoL !!!
Oh' one more thing.. Heavy Metal??? Hell yah!! That LPC got EMG's the moment I walked in the door.
Frank asked me how the orig pick-ups sounded? I don't know? hahahahahahhahahahahahaha _________________ Que la Force soit avec toi |

Receiving you 5 on 5 Oz ...yeah, maybe it's time they receive your plans/ideas
I'm like you: I like to transform just to make it mine (to the horror of my wife...I mean I even transform my clothes/shoes also). |
