Jakob, it has nothing to do with kids getting shot.

Hauptmann, there are US companies making airsoft guns. They just have to do it under license, so it's not common, or create guns that are not replicas. Both crosman and daisy make airsoft guns that are original designs.

Japan has different laws regarding replicas then we do, especially replicas of patented/copywritten/trademarked products registered in other countries. Also, since you can't get real guns, airsofting, and PFC guns are insanely popular.

In the US, you have to have a license to produce a replica of an item that is intellectual property. Gun designs are intellectual property of the companies that design and build them. You can't start cranking out airsoft guns that look like a colt 1911 without it being licensed to do so.

I'm just saying it's a complicated issue from a regulatory perspective. Wouldn't be worth the hassle, especially considering the likelihood for civil liability suits. It really is a huge mishmash of local and state laws, especially in major urban centers: http://smartgunlaws.org/non-powder-guns-policy-summary/

(Sorry to link specifically to a political site, it's just a good summary of current regulations)

It's like Internet sales tax: plenty of states already have the laws on the books, but nobody really pays attention to them or enforces them.

The pictures show my personal trick of using screws where on the real gun was a pin.

It is a tell of my early models.

For clarity's sake, the word is canon, Rich. I know it seems like I'm nitpicking, but getting the grammar right is the difference between knowing your shit and knowing you're shit... Laughing
