Excellent news.
Price point may be a factor especially if it goes over $75. Dave G and other people like MSPAW and Don Parker here on the boards where all doing barrels for $50 - which seems to be the sweat spot for mass interest. |

If I can get more people interested, then I'm sure I can lower the price. I'm pretty much just looking to recoup costs. |

I think between here and the RPF you should garner lots of interest.
Especially if the quality is on par with DaveG's run. There are probably a lot of people that have the previous version that never got a shell barrel too. |

I will not be paying for a premium membership to the RPF to sell anything ever.
I am morally opposed to giving Art Andrews money for anything. Even $4. |

Hi! I think $75 is reasonable, and I would also be willing to go a little higher... Perhaps you could try hyping this run of barrels some more, for example on the RPF... Surely more people, who bought the new kit will be interested in these.... Sooooo, I'm still in, as long as it's within the mentioned price range

I've no interest in being part of a place that would ban the likes of Richard Coyle. There's a lot more to it than that, but I think that's reason enough all on it's own, really.
I do have other channels, though. |

It's not to spoil the fun guys, but as this is a WTB thread I would like to keep it on track.....
Jedibug, is there still a chance that you will be doing these barrels? _________________ Monsieur, azonnal kövessen engem bitte |

I am most definitely making these barrels.
I finally have everything I need and should be getting started Thursday or Friday. Progress pics will follow. |

I was able to get down to the workshop and start working with my steel. There's a bit of a learning curve, owing to this being my first time working with steel, but it's coming along well...
It's not perfect, but it looks pretty good under that receiver, huh?
Here, you can see some lathing flaws better... I'm thinking that those are spots where I didn't use enough cutting fluid and it caused little jumps that resulted in those lines. Easily fixed for the production barrels.
Here, you can see the depth of my bore exceeds 27mm...
Compared to the stock Tomenosuke, which is just a tad over 8mm:
Pretty deep, and will easily go black with a little blueing inside (please ignore the drill press mishap... still working out a good way to get that bore centered properly, as my lathe isn't big enough to do it...):
These are just my first attempt with my steel stock. I'm working out the best way to get these done and won't offer them until they're PERFECT. I'll start up a proper sales thread when I'm closer, but I thought I'd update here for now, if that's all right. |

Hi there!
I'm back after a long hiatus from props (busy raising a 4-year old girl!)
I've set my eyes on a couple of Tomenosuke Pros on eBay, and have already obtained the correct vintage Weaver windage & elevation knob. Might as well get in on a steel barrel run while I'm at it, so color me interested! |

I can tell you that the $50/barrel that I was charging was WAY TOO LOW for all the effort they took, even with the economy of scale making a run of 100 pieces. I think there were something like 27 individual machining steps to get from bar stock to finished barrel.
If I were to do them again (which I'm not!) the price would be closer to double what I charged the first time. _________________ Dave
