I just got home to find a big box marked Fragile waiting for me.

After getting it open, came the unwrapping. Paul definitely didn't take any chances with this, the outside was generously wrapped in foam, and inside this was a good thick bubble wrap around the cardboard box with the bottle in it.

I got the box open and out came the bottle intact. All I can say is wow! Its one thing to see this in the photos, quite another to hold it in your hands. Its not thin glass either in case anyone's wondering. It looks to be thicker than my bottle of JWB actually. Its also a bit taller than the standard JWB bottle.

The package contained the bottle, the Bryant tshirt, two shot glasses, the labels, 'wax' seal & ribbon, two books of Snake Pit matches, and the COA. Also included are instructions for prepping the Finlandia cap for use with this bottle, and a label placement guide.

The labels are spot on, done on the same foil paper as real JWB labels, with crisp clean printing.

It was most definitely worth the wait. Thanks for making this a reality Paul, its truly a thing of beauty.

Have a look:

There was a lot of padding in the box, it took a few minutes to chew through it to get to the goods. This was no handful of styrofoam peanuts.

How was it shipped? US Mail, UPS, FedEx?

Looked to be US Mail.

I'm currently trying out an alternate to the Finlandia cap, I'll post up pics once I get it set up. The sample cap I ordered is a bit larger than the bottle top, but looks like it might fit if I add a little bit of felt inside it. Only problem is its a gold metal instead of silver, but it does match the labels.

pics to follow

Don't forget my cut Mylar contact paper idea Fabio.
I'm thinking with that gold cap wrapped with mylar there would be a ring of gold left at the top outside edge,
then you add my 2019 label which is black and gold and VOILA! BR CAP Dejour.

edited to correct spelling of voila . . . GrammarNanny0667

I got the sample cap I ordered, its metal and when I test fitted it, it was just a tiny bit too big for the bottle. But after I added a couple of small pieces of felt to the inside of the cap it now fits on there nice and snug. Not to hard to take it off or put it on and it doesn't rattle around.

I decided to leave the cap in the gold color as my bottle is one of the artist's proofs. I might try the silver mylar idea though if I get tired of the current look.

Next step: Fill with Johnnie Walker Black and enjoy.

The cap mod

It took longer to get the cap sent to me than it did to mod it. If anyone wants one of these caps, here's where I got it:

http://www.mckernan.com/store/product.php?productid=33723&cat=45&page=1

just order a sample. They only send one though.

I am using a cap to a bottle of Gin I happen to have. It's black, however I might go for the mylar or just leave it as is. The beautiful part is it snaps right on. What luck. Smile

Here are the retrofit instructions for the Finlandia Cap.
Something I noted to Loyalizer is that inbetween #5 and #6 is the step where, with a pair of pliers, you grab a corner of the inside tab you have created and twist. If you grab the right corner you twist clockwise, if you grab the left corner you twist counter clockwise, either way, you are turning the lining in on itself and pulling it away from the inside walls of the cap. Twist and a little tug and the inside should pop out.
Also step#8 is a lot easier with a dremmel equipped with a long abrasive bit. Work slow, it's very easy to burn right through the side of the cap...which is when I was thinking the silver mylar contact paper would come in handy.

Something else concerning the Finlandia Cap...
You are basically thinning down it's walls and weakening the whole thing.
Try to keep in mind that this is a cosmetic fix. After a while of prolonged use, you may develope lengthwise cracks in the cap...I did on my first couple of caps before I switched to using the Dremmel to smooth down the inner walls. The Vaseline is great too because if it still doesn't fit at that point you know you need to go back and do a little more Dremmel work.
I have also found that if, when taking the cap off your bottle, you twist the bottle while holding the cap rather than the other way around, it seems to take a lot of stress off the cap and make it last longer.

Isn't that how Bryant uncaps it? I wonder if they had a retrofit cap as well.

I like your GOLD cap by the way Loyal...it's classy!
I may have to put one on one of the extra's I have.
All the extra's by the way will be posted on E-Bay and a general notice will be posted here for any interested.
The first one will be accompanied by a GENUINE Tsing-Tao Bottle and come with a one of a kind "Tyrell Office themed illuminator".
The ultimate BR Bottle auction...more later on this.
