Hey gang !

Indy Magnoli made a post in the junkyard at the RPF to gauge who'd be interested in a professionaly taylor made Deckard's shirt ...
He told me that he'd at least like to get 30 persons interested to start the project
The price would be $150 shipped worldwide !!

For those who are interested you can contact him at TheRPF :

http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=49220

Or directly at this address : indy_magnoli@yahoo.com

There are 7 guys already in the interest list Very Happy

Yep, I'm one of the interested persons! Very Happy
This would be pretty much the last thing I need to have a "scene specific" Deckard outfit.

I've been talking to him about this project, and he will be having the fabric copied. I assume that is the reason he is looking for interest before jumping in, since short runs of printed fabric just aren't done.

Also, if anyone has pics of the back of the shirt showing the western yoke detail, I'm looking for some to forward.

They open up membership several times a year. You just have to keep checking if you're interested.

I think I waited about 6 months before I was able to register. *shrugs*

I'm not certain what possessed me to register when I did...suffice it to say I had no idea I was functioning inside a window of opportunity....WHATEVER.
I find the RPF to be a wonderful resource...little more.
If I want to spend a bucket load of money all I have to do is enter in a search at that sight...and the opportunity presents itself.

I compared Indy's shirt with some photos of the original and i think it looks overall accurate to me...as a matter of fact there are a couple of things i'm a bit disapointed with, first the crossed lines pattern between the oval motives are way to sharp, on the original it's much more faded.
The consequences are quite important on the general look of the finished product, the 'four lines' stritching can barely be seen on Indy's photos when they are obvious on the original...the oval motives are too 'oval' compared with the original which are less, i'm not sure about the color of the buttons too, which are rose-red on Indy's.
That's amazing how minor differences can influence on the final result of the shirt !
However, imho, Indy did an awesome work on this and i think we missed somethink not to have collaborated closely with him before he finalised the fabric. When i see the result he obtained i'm pretty sure he should have get the perfect fabric with some of our advices...
It make me remember the time 'WE' collaborated with Abbyshot on the Deckard's V1 and V2 even though it's always tough to get the perfection
(Hope they will make at least a quilted collar and change that orange brown color on V3 !! ).
Finally, i don't know if Indy could changes those minor defaults on his shirt or if he will/could provide us some tips to fade the crossed pattern ?
I thank him very much for his great effort on this shirt wich is in my opinion the first screen accurate Rick Deckard's shirt available... Very Happy

I tried to influence him to see what I was seeing way back when, but he seemed to just ignore me. So I gave up...too easily probably.

The faded look of the fabric really looked to me like it was printed on the reverse side. Also the grid, or lines in between the ovals were much closer to the shirt color. Nobody backed me up. Now I am afraid he lost sales, and I will not get this shirt.

It seems just like Coyle's blasters, Indy never took a step back to see the big picture, and though the details are mostly right, the essence is missing. I saw this coming, and I didn't yell and scream to make sure he understood, because I trusted his expertize and experience. It is in the end my fault, because I saw and didn't speak up loud enough.

Andy

I know this style is your favorite, but all is not lost yet Andy, Rachael is working on a version of the"other" shirt, detail can be assured.

I think with a few modifications this shirt can be transformed Wink I dont see how hard it could be for Magnoli to use a lighter coloured thread for the stitching and different buttons (especially if you provide him with them) then it's just a case of getting the material proffesionaly faded, maybe slightly darkened.

I talked to him yesterday and he told me he didn't have time to fix the problem and perhabs would do something if someone would do a dye-test of the new pattern...i guess it would quite easily be done with a photoshop program or something, there are talented guys down here ! and not a big work (even if i'm not a specialist ).
After that we could get the dye-test done by a professional maker...
As for the shirt itself, i noticed that on the screen used one the stritching was perfectly seen which is not on Andy's, the stritching is exactly the same color that the rose oval motives on Ford's shirt...the crossed lines, too sharp, unfortunately are the principal mistake on the general look of Andy's shirt imho.
Has Andy said, i think we all trusted Magnoli's professionalism and we were wrong on this, those kind of project, i mean doing BR props, are labor of love and the BR fan is very exacting Smile however i didn't know Andy tryed to work closely with him with no final result.. Sad
But for the manufacturer it's always a matter of business requirement and technical problem...If only Abbyshot would have agreed to change their trench color, and modify a bit the collar it would have been the perfect BR trench but i think that after a lot of modifications and a v1 of the coat they had at a point their product to be release !

It says on the website that all the stitching is there, while not visible in the picture, the shirts are tailored and not off the rack so possibly the stitching is added when your individual shirt is made, just a thought, have not consulted Indy on this.
Quote:
"this retro-futuristic shirt features a quad-row contrast pink stitching on the collar, cuffs, and chest pockets"

I am not sure what shirt of mine you are talking about?, but the only contact I had with Indy on this project was on the interest thread on theRPF. I pointed out the that the "grid" or lines around the colored ovals was close to the color of the shirt, and that it's blurriness looked to me as if it was printed "black" on the other side and as the dye bleed to the other side it washed out the lines and made the shirt grey. If you have a printed shirt and look on the reverse side of the fabric you would see the resemblance.

I figured his pattern example was still a work in progress and he would take what I said in order to think more about the final colors. If not I had hoped others would see what I had observed, and speak up themselves. Now it is too late.

The shirt I showed pictures of was the screen used one that was sold several times through separate auction houses, and finally through screenused.com where I got the pictures from. It matches all pictures I have seen of the shirt, including the movie itself.

Spilt milk I say,
Andy
