|
|
Hi everybody,
I'd like to launch a new prop project, this time devoted to A L I E N.
2009 is going to be the movie's 30th anniversary, so I think we could celebrate with some beers... Weylan Yutani ASPEN beers... Yes, the beer brand drinked by the Nostromo crew !
I've been lucky enough to purchase an original, unused ASPEN label from one of the guys who worked on the movie, some months ago...
I'd be OK to produce a limited run of high quality almost 100% screen-accurate beer cans if enough people would be interested in those.
25th November 2008 : 3rd & FINAL UPDATE !!!
Here is the final product you'll get if you order one !
They're made using vintage 16oz beer cans + color stickers (including a 5th, silver color on the grey areas) made from the original sticker I own.
They're very close to the original can Dallas holds during both meal sequences. (only the tab is different since I was unable to find more accurate cans, even with the help of a specialized retailer on eBay)
I've sealed the opened bottoms of the cans using cardboard and then painted them silver... it works pretty well...
IMPORTANT : Each can is 70€, worldwide shipping included. I won't ask for payment (Paypal in € only) until they're ready to ship, by late November... and I will only make ONE RUN.
All I need to know by now is who'll buy one (If you're not 100% sure to buy one in the end, please do not ask to be incorporated in the PURCHASE LIST. Many thanks for your understanding)
PURCHASE LIST :
Backlight (3 cans + 2 free bonus props) (first one to paypal = a 3rd FREE bonus prop !!!) RECEIVED
Harry Harris (1 can) RECEIVED
offworld66 (1 can) RECEIVED
temponaut (3 cans + 2 free bonus props) RECEIVED
clutch (1 can) RECEIVED
ridleyville (1 can) RECEIVED
Finbladerunner (2 cans + 1 free bonus prop) RECEIVED
nyreaper (1 can) (still waiting payment) _________________ THE FUTURE IS A THING OF THE PAST

Many thanks for your interest, gentlemen !!!
Those who got my UNICORN SET already know I'm not kidding with quality, so... In order to launch this projet, I'd need 7 or 8 more members interested in those ! (this way, I'll be able to print a high quality labels and buy vintage beer cans)
Come on guys, we're gonna make it !

Where's the 'D'?!
Something I never noticed - when did Weylan become 'Weyland'?...

You'll find an explanation in the A L I E N documentary of the ultimate DVD edition : The original name of the company is "Weylan Yutani" (a Ron Cobb idea, it's a well known fact), but the guys who made the 2nd movie added a "D" to "Weylan", turning it into "Weyland".
Why did they do this ? Nobody still have a valid answer to this day... (a misreading of the original name, IMHO)
Voilà !

I'd definitely be interested in one or two of these - nice job!
Have you mentioned it to the guys over at The Aliens Legacy forum?

Many thanks, Harry !
Regarding the alienslegacy forum... Well, there's maybe too much grunts / ALIENS addicts in this place, not enough A L I E N space truckers IMHO... It's a matter of taste !
(But if you want to talk about this project to your space marines friends, I don't have a problem with that, of course ! I'll welcome anybody interested in helping me launch this beer project !) _________________ THE FUTURE IS A THING OF THE PAST |

This has brought back a bitter memory Fred.
Back in my mispent youth when my magazine of choice was Starlog,
there were two items advertised on the back page that i always drooled after.......a Stormtroopers helmet and the Nostromo crew jacket.
After months of saving what i think was $15US i sent an order for the jacket, now after 25 years on, i still havent recieved it. Im really filthy on that.
Does anyone have one of these jackets? I would really love to see one.
If someone could also post a scan of the old ad from that era Starlog it would also be deeply appreciated, might even still be in business, could chase up that jacket...........
BTW Fred, im with you, Keep on Truckin........... _________________ Formerly offworld66 |

I have the same kind of memories (Starlog ! Famous Monsters ! Fantastic Films !) but on a Nostromo cap !!!
I've tried to find it since then, without luck alas !!! (didn't know they had released a crew jacket !!!)

OK guys, I have an estimated price for the cans... (compared a few printing companies prices + have a deal with a vintage cans dealer on eBay)
So, each can would be 70€, shipping included.
I know, it's pretty high, but printing the labels alone will be 900€ ! (that damn 5th silver color rises the price, but it MUST be printed this way to be screen-accurate... All the grey parts on the original label I own are silver)
Oh, yes... a last thing : Those who'll order 2 cans will be offered another secret A L I E N prop featured in the meal scenes... Those who'll order 3 cans will be offered 2 different secret props featured in the meal scenes !!! You won't be disappointed by these too, I promise !
So... Who's still in ? (I need quick answers to give it a GO or not... Many thanks for your understanding) _________________ THE FUTURE IS A THING OF THE PAST
