Well, after months of wrangling and with the help of my "insider source" UPS dropped this at my door

If you guys want more particular pics of that Vid-Phone I'll take them and post them asap. The gentleman was kind enough to sell it to me since he felt that since I had helped him identifying this prop I would have first dib if he was to sell it later on.
I don't know if I should restore it to its original colour...what do you think guys?

So these are a bunch of pics that I took showing the underside of the phone

also the underside of various pieces: the tray and the intercom

as well as the undone phone and its various components

And finally a side by side comparaison between my build at the left and the new one

Seriously cool!

I was too lazy to re-attach the underside of my phone but looks like the prop department were also. Laughing

Yes, looks like it...then again, lots of props were built very fast by different people at the time...but I'm still on the fence as this prop has not being identified as a one-off to show Ridley how a Vid-Pone would look like.

Hot damn! That's cool!

I can't believe how close some of the fanmade replicas got.

I'm sure somebody, somewhere has the real deal (so many props were "borrowed" during and after production)...but the fear of being prosecuted legaly has a way to keep them from showing those to us (like the Narcissus model that was stolen for example) Crying or Very sad

The more I look at this, the more I am convinced it is something made in the past few years. The wear looks intentional to me (sandpapered), and the Bic lighter rack looks way too current. What is the provenance of it?

The question is confusing ...you mean the Bic tray provenance or the Vid-Phone provenance?
As for the underside of the prop, the owner cleaned it before I took pics (after all, he wanted to put it for sale on Ebay at the time).

The provenance of both, since they are attached. The prop and where it came from is more important though. Was there a story to go along with it?

Andy, I'm afraid I have no other news about that Vid-Phone than the ones I posted before Crying or Very sad ...some days I think it's a fake, and others the genuine mock-up Confused Until someone can show us clearly what's what I'm still leaning toward fake rather than real.

The lighter tray was just a guess by someone on the forum, it's never been confirmed from a screen shot has it? I always the raised dots on that back part looked like a sheet of lego.

The viewer looks spot on though, does it say on the back which make it is?

This is what I've collected over the years, the hair dryer is the closest match I have found.

It's been sat in a box for around 4 years so it's probably time I sold the lot.

You could still make a Vid-Phone out of all the pieces you have.
Panaview slide viewer is the screen used on that prop. The hair dryer is close, but not like the model used in the movie.

As for the calculator: spot on!

My latest Vidphone. It was bought by one of our members in New Zealand who was very patient as it took me forever.
I have all the parts and will soon finally be starting on my own Vidphone.
