Thanks Andy! Wow.... Circa 480€....
Or $679,00....
Some pricey... for a unassembled kit, I guess. Well, will write a letter to something special these days... hohohoho!!!! |
Hold on, that can´t be right...
KIT: 73,500Y + 5000Y US delivery = 78,500Y = $863
BU: 140,000Y + 5000Y US delivery = 145,000Y = $1595
I shiver just thinking about it. |

Worse yet.... I've only exchanged kit without shipping costs and so on.... _________________

No surprise that they've sold through!
I'm preparing a message with several questions that members have asked about the kits, including questions about the type of plastics used, the decision to make certain parts in plastic rather than in metal, and whether payment via PayPal is due at the time of ordering or the time of shipping. I'll add a question about whether more kits may become available in the future and, if so, when. _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |

Yes, the parts are very clean and fit together precisely. On the finished model, the only part that rattles is the magazine cover, which should be an easy fix. Also, although it doesn't perform any mechanical function, the front trigger includes a spring and hinge. It moves!
Thanks for letting me know you like the photos. That means a lot to me, coming from the guy who took the WC shots. _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |

I pre-ordered a kit on the first day it went to sale and got my e-mail confiermation saying "all in-stock kits are sold out and more will become available on february". When I read Andy's note about the total SOLD OUT situation I started getting nervous, maybe payment was expected on preorder, maybe not...
So I just re-read the email and the final line
"the prices is blah blah blah...."
"But all kits are sold out. Additional production is completed after February next year, I'll contact you again"
So I guess the "contact you again" means that they will ask for payment when the run is done. If not, I'm frackep up big time.
I'll be anxiously waiting for temponaut's post. |

They had two sold out notices. One for the existing 50 Built up and 50 kits. And now for the final 100 that includes all the orders. There is a note up on the site now saying something about "adding 100". Not sure if this 100 more to the initial 200 run, or the 100 they are working on now to complete all the online and phone orders. If you have an order already in it should not be a problem.

I'm confident that Andy is correct. But please stand by and I'll have a response for you directly from Tomenosuke Shoten shortly. _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |

I think that one of the most important things I wanted to know about this blaster is how soft the metal is. Soft metal is a real turnoff for me. How would you compare the metal on this blaster with a Coyle or a Sidkit ? |

Okay, here's the fourth installment of kit photographs, this time featuring the electronics package.
The circuit board for the four small and one large red LEDs, still in its bag. The electronics package requires soldering.
The LEDs and battery holder. Two lengths of white-insulated wire are provided for modelers who want to recreate the "wires exposed" look. The small silver object to the right of the battery holder is a rare earth magnet.
The LED switch and switch cover. The metal switch cover has the words ON and OFF molded directly into it.
Two views of the completed LED unit, which is entirely self-contained. Note the rare earth magnet positioned at the front edge of the magazine cover.
The rare earth magnet functions to secure the magazine cover in position. When the cover is fit into the housing, the magnet holds to the exposed metal barrel jacket inside the Blaster. It's a very clever system, although the rear end of the cover, held in place only by pressure, tends to rattle a bit. It's the only part of the finished Tomenosuke Blaster that rattles, and should be an easy fix.
The on-off switch on the finished Blaster, doing its thing.
If there are any other specific parts of the kit anyone would like to see, let me know and I'll get some pics.
I'll try to find time to photograph the finished Blaster next.
Thanks, Pilot! _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Captain!" |

The cast metal parts have a nice, solid feel to them -- but, like the Coyle and SidKit Blasters, the Tomenosuke is made from a white metal alloy and you can scratch away the surface of the cast parts with your fingernail if you try. _________________ "Your old titles mean nothing here... Hmm. Perhaps someone could make an aftermarket upgrade part to solve this problem... a thin plate with the numbers and Steyr logo that would fit over the trapezoidal area at the front of the housing?

I had thought of that when i first noticed that the Japanese blaster was doing this area correctly. I would have to take part of the blaster apart to get clearance to that section, get exact measurements and have a flat plastic piece like that built. Best place would be a plaque/name plate making store as they would most likely have the material to do it. I would say the trickiest part is getting the new piece to fit perfectly on the SIDKIT so it does not look like a obvious add on after thought. That area is so tight and closed off anyway, even if it is not perfect i think it would still be ok. It is a idea... |

all you need to do for this is get a reverse version engraved, then make a silicone mold of that and cast resin inverts. might cost a bit and take up you're time, but I'd buy a casting from ya, sure others would too. _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. I take it back this blaster still looks kick-ass compared to anything else.
temponaut: what kind of finish is the plastic painted? how does it look on the built up version? _________________ "F*ck it, it's just a movie. Let him worry about it" Harrison Ford |
