hi folks, just wanted to show off my recent blaster build with added machined parts courtesey of mspaw (machined sight rod) and don parker (butt plate, bolt and barrel). great work btw guys!

the extended ammo clip is made of plastic card with brass tubes cut to length for shells. thanks to Noeland for inspiration. the trigger guard is a spare from a hartford.

my question to you all is shall i weather the blaster as if its seen some serious action (i see it as a riot squad issue sidearm) or leave it shiny and new? my natural inclination is toward weathering it but its soooooo pretty all shiny like that.

all comments welcome Smile

I like new and pretty myself. How often do cops drop their guns and in many cases they fix any scratches.

With the exception of Boba and Indy, as it is part of their look, I vote for new.

Awesome gun btw.

Interesting approach to the blaster!

On weathering, I like new with just a bit of wear. A ding here and there to indicate that it may have seen some action. But not beat up like worldcon. Shocked

And no RUST!

She's a beaut!
Love it.
I think a little weathering would look cool.

That looks awesome! Usually I say weather it, but the lines on that are so crisp it looks pretty nice as is. I would say if you do any weathering, keep it subtle like Matsuo does with his pieces.

I agree with Andy (and indeed with almost everyone else). Since your blaster is unique to yourself and its not trying to be a WorldCon, I would leave it neat and tidy.

Great interpretation and terrific work.

Regards

Thanks for all the kind words guys, it means a lot. I feel like I've had so many projects on the go it's finally great to post pictures!

I think what I may do is add a little oil effect on areas like triggers and hammer and then consider it complete.

Goes to show what you can do with an offworld and a little effort Smile

Sharp, crisp and cool, that gun rocks as far as I'm concerned!!
Little wear here and there, but nothing major in terms of "used look".
Great variation on a theme Cool

Damn fine work there!

I think it looks great as is. I like both looks, and I just try and let the piece itself tell me what it should be.

This one, I like new.

More pictures!!!
