Abby Shot really needs to hire models to display their stuff better. Maybe they are just trying to relate to their market Razz

...of course that is how I looked in junior high Wink

I've always liked the jacket in the film. And Abbey Shot does nice work. It's just the Deckard jacket never looked quite "right".

Reading the link you posted, it looks like the one they make is functional and based on the one in the film. But they are hard at work on one the looks "right". I'm anxious to see the version 2.

Thanks again for the post.

Ted.

abby shot has more of these up on Ebay (four of them to be exact)...They are priced well under the website and because they have so many of them up i have a feeling first bidders will get these for a good price like what happened last time they put them up. I wish I had the bucks right now. I know of the issues with these as well because they made them waterproof they wont darken in the rain and they missed some details. Still a good deal though.

Wow, it just struck me that I have no idea how to guage jacket size. I don't know my own size . . .

I guess they wanted well lit pictures of the jacket, but man-o-man, kills the mood a little. It really shows that they are just tyring to sell it and that they don't really "get it".

if I remember correctly you mesure the distance between your shoulders across chest and multiply by 2. If you just try some jackets out at a store you can write it down afterwards. Better yet, look at what you already own. I think irt would have been better if they chose some Harrison Ford looking guy to model them in a dark alley. I wish they would make the Roy Batty coat. I would be into that one. Gaff has some cool coats too.

Go to a suit store, most places will measure you as a courtesy. Those measurements will be good for all jackets/suits.

Hey everyone, thanks for the comments. We're ALMOST ready to release the improved and more screen-accurate "version 2" of our Deckard Trench. You can check it out here:

http://abbyshot.blogspot.com/search/label/Deckard

We're requesting feedback until March 19th, so this is your last chance to weigh in with your opinions before we finalize it and release the Deckard V2 for sale.

Just curious if anyone actually sent anything to Abbyshot for the "quest for the correct color."
I had been posting links to Abbyshot's blog over on RPF, but that thread has kind of died. I've been wanting a nice Deckard trenchcoat forever, and hopefully the Abbyshot v.2 will turn out nice!

I think I can answer that one... Very Happy

As of today, we have yet to receive any items in the mail. We went the extra mile and offered everyone the opportunity, but no one took us up on it! Shocked I can only assume that those who weren't 100% happy with our fabric colour were members of a very vocal, but very small minority... Confused

We have been making all the design-related adjustments that everyone asked for though, and we're confident that our version 2 Deckard will be the most screen-accurate one available.

On the contrary, I'm pretty sure that the biggest part of the BR fans - I am one of them - interested by your Deckard's coat have been worried by its color. Actually I counted on other fans to give you the closest color correction or something more accurate...well I gess I was'nt the only one
Another thing very important imo, and I know that several fans already asked for it : It'll be great if we could have asap a few shots of the coat worn by a model in multiple angles, the collar turned up or not ( knowing that the collar is a fine part of the coat...btw i noticed that the collar's end did'nt seems to fall properly on the left of the chest, but I may have mistaken and a couple of shots etc... ). It's very difficult to see the accuracy of the coat without them, that's why the principal reaction of the fans was about the color I think...
Sorry to be so fussy but I know that to wear the greatest copy possible of Deckard's trench has always been an old dream for us BR fans... and sometimes for a couple of decades !! ...I 'm sure we are very close now ! Very Happy

Thanks for your comprehension, your communication and your good will !

Phil

The following is quoted from member Pauleysolo over on RPF:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just received this today from Abbyshot in response to my- "when is Deckard Coat V2 going to ship?" inquiry.

This is a special update on the Deckard Version 2 from
AbbyShot. We're sorry that you haven't heard much from us in
the past month, and we are very thankful for the continued
patience you have shown during the development of this design.

The main issue that concerns our design team is the collar
of Deckard's coat, since it is the most distinctive feature
of the design. The previous Deckard Version 2 sample that we
had on our blog in the middle of March was close in terms of
the collar, but keen-eyed fans pointed out to us that we
still needed some length added on. Our production staff are
working hard on this but it is proving to be more difficult
than expected, since lengthening the collar changes the fit
around the neck of the coat.
Our usual AbbyShot perfectionism is going through the roof
on this one, but only because we know that fans like
yourself deserve the best design we can possibly make.

The other major issue here was the colour of the blog
sample. This was a very tough one for us, as we did go
through a lot of trouble to find a colour that would be
close to the colour of Deckard's coat while still making the
coat at a fair price. As you probably have seen in our blog
post called the "Deckard Colour Challenge" (at
"http://abbyshot.blogspot.com/2007/03/deckard-colour-challenge.html"),
it is hard to colour-match the "real" colour of Deckard's
coat because the movie is shot in dark, rainy, wet settings
where the "original" colour of the coat is not apparent.

We had a few helpful responses to our "Deckard Colour
Challenge" and many fans who responded were fine with the
colour we have already. We've decided to go with this colour
we have because frankly, you've done enough waiting, and it
would not be feasible given the additional costs and time to
source another colour.

We cannot give you an exact release date yet, but we are
hoping that the remaining work on this design will not take
too long. On the topic of the colour of the coat, we've
included two exclusive pictures of the coat in some darker
outdoor light to better reflect the lighting conditions of
the Blade Runner film. Our model was a bit shy, so please
forgive our PhotoShop solution!

We are so thankful for the patience you have shown, and we
continue to work to give you the best possible product we can!

Thank you so much,

The AbbyShot Team

Below are two pictures they sent me-with some bad photoshop head replacement--but the jackets are looking pretty close...:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it looks really great!! Opinions?

I'm liking the subdued color better in these pics.
Did anyone here ever buy one of these?

Hi!

Wow that coat looks really great! I would like to ask you guys about the collar, in photos I've seen the collar seem to be made out of something that looks like corduroy, please correct me if I'm wrong. Here are links to some examples:

A. Inner Jacket material (Chemille)
B. Pants- (Rayon Tweed) (it's kind of metalic)
C. Shirt- (Cotton Shirting W/pattern)
D. Tie (Rayon)(metalic sheen with lots of colors)
E. Overcoat/Outer Jacket (Cotton Upholstry Canvas)

Keep in mind that the A,B,C and D materials here are approximations...that is; I'm not going for exact colors but exact style.
I kept with the Earth-Tone theme and am surmising that these are cloths that Deckard undoubtedly has in his wardrobe.
The OverCoat is another issue however. I'm not looking to do a variation on it but as exact as possible...though we plan to tone the color down a bit and I may add elbow patches.
The Overcoat material is available from Joanne's Fabrics and is made by a company called "Boulder"...the color is Rust-Copper.
What do you think?
