Well the work is far from complete. Much of the information is missing and possibly inaccurate. I am also working on a Identification guide and flow chart. Most of the info I have would fill up an entire book itself.
The ID guide might be coming soon though. Too many things do just keep taking precedence though.

Andy, I do have the Hobby Ex magazine, if you need any more info regarding that (scans.. whatever) please let me know I'll be appy to help.
Also, in my fiest visit to Comet Miniatures back in 89 or 90 I saw this original box from a Jpanaese firm (I cant remember which one) I think the weapon inside was the Pulse Rifle from Aliens, thought I may be wrong. The box top had a drawning in color with many sci-fi characters holding their weapons (star wars, aliens, forbidden planet, you name it) including a Deckard with the blaster. I suppose it may be a boxed Oz Toys model that had all the models they had in catalog at the time. I really wish I could remember more, but I have never seen anything like that again.
BTW Comet used to sell the Oz blaster, casted in White Poliestirene resin (quite smelly and fargile). That was my first blaster (19 years ago! pew).
Best wishes and keep the good work! |

I have the Hobby Japan (EX Autumn 93) as well. I just need a translation of it. I saw the OZ recast from Comet many years ago on their website and they called it an 'SSG' IIRC. A few have shown up on ebay all from UK sellers.

I ordered my first PDK from Frontiermodels in the UK several years ago and was very dissapointed: two resin cast handles , bent canon tubes and that's about it...price: $150.00!! No need to say, but I had to scratch-build everything else. I usualy don't show it, cause at the time, my skills were not what they are today...'nuff said. |

Andy,
I'll see if I can dig the old cataloges I have. This recast was form 90 or 91.
One half snapish-half japanese girl works as gatekeeper at my parent's house. She's a japanese teacher too. I'll have to ask her how much she'll charge for the translation, it never hurts to ask. |

Sensational resource this mate!
I'm more than old enough to remember the original movie release but have only relatively recently been turned onto the BR blaster whirlwind.
I'm astonished at the range of units that have been made over the years, but its clear that there have only been very few real pioneers - with (in my opinion) Rick and Richard at the top of the tree.
I still regard Karl T's photo release the most significant development of recent years. The range of photo's, the many POV's and more importantly, the resolution and clarity of the files have given us all something to get our teeth into.
Many thanks again... |

Hi guys!
I´m the new dude here and well... just wanted to say hi.
I was able to purchase a resin kit a couple of days ago... should be in transit next week I guess. I just wished I had found this place before the purchase to ask a few questions about it.
the guys I bought the kit from are called Coolmodels. the kit looks good in pics, but since I can´t seem to find it in the several threads I´ve read here (been lurking the whole day! lol) i guess it is a recasted piece.
shame...
can anyone give me any info on the kit? I might work it a bit, sell it locally to recover what I spent on it with the shipping and mass up for a non recasted deal.
problem is they´re quite expensive for a prop (the lowest one I saw was 275 in an auction) and i can´t really afford to pay 300 to 400 dollars in something like this.
any advice will be nice.
thanks!
P.D.
if I posted in the wrong thread please feel free to move it. thanks! _________________ "... Like tears... in the rain." |

The coolmodels gun is a recast, and likely a poor recast, of a Rick Ross PKD-1. The one from Australia is a recast of Rick's PKD-2. It is slightly better from what I have heard. Rick may be working doing some more kits soon himself though. Not sure when he will be doing them though. There may be a new version of the PKD-2 coming out 2 by a member here, but that also is in limbo at this point. Not too much other good cheap ones that I know about except maybe the Wilco models, but it also is a recast of a recast. It is a recast of a Sidkit resit kit that is also a recast of Rich Coyle's Version 3 gun.

Thanks for the quick response Andy. I appreciate it.
Bummer with a recast...
I'll still work it out and probably sell it once finished. I know several fans of BR in here that might want it.
what is then the best replica for an affordable price? I mean something that ranges for 300 bucks?
I would really appreciate info on where to order it and all if you don't mind.
thanks again! _________________ "... Like tears... in the rain." |

Rich Coyle used to make a "Stunt" kit that was around $100, but not sure if he is any more. Rick may be making up some kits soon too, but Matsuo has been talking about making a PKD-2 with cold cast aluminum resin and metal parts with Rick's blessing for under $200. Not sure when this will be happening either. I have been meaning to talk to him about it. I know he has been moving his workshop, so he hasn't had a whole lot of time for it. I say keep checking in here, because it will get posted here first most likely.

I'll be in the lookout, that sounds like a great alternative on a budget.

to Andy, & ALL of you Blade Runner fans (myself included).
This is for you. When you find your photo of your blaster, note it and i will add you to a "photo credit list" page which SHOULD be in this.
I "borrowed" all the pics from this site. Some I cleaned up or outlined.
I am NOT trying to take ANY credit for ANYONE's hard work.
ALL the text and research is Andy's work. AWSOME job by the way.
I just played art director/graphic desiner. "A picture is worth a thousand words"
Labor of love.
This has been broken down in to three sections as it is too large to up load as a single book.
THIS IS a "just for fun" project. NOT something too make cash from.
It was created using InDesign and is laid out as a 10.25 x 8.25 left to right page. the first page is the cover. (duh'o)
ps. IF I have offended ANYONE by using their photo's with out permission that was/is NOT my intention. This is just for your enjoyment.
best regards,
ocd

You have done a man's job!
Cool idea. A couple of small things I noticed though are. The pic of the gun with Monsters in Motion entry, is the Offworld prototype. They did post those pictures first, but it seems they are not really associated with each other. The holster you show with the Safariland entry is the custom one made by Phil Steinsneider, and not one made from a Safariland holster. A few other pics I am not sure about as well, but over all a very fine job. Joan may be knocking on your door to include this in his book
