ok, second attempt at the dollar bills. I started this last night, this time designing it from scratch as opposed to using pre existing bills. this design was inspired by another designer's take on the dollar bill which I based some areas on.

just the front for now. I tried to use as much of southwells unused designs I could find to fit in. one idea is to have the "basket" patterns around the 10 screen printed in gold. would be useful to find simular patterns to differentuate the other denominations.

anyway, would be good to get some feedback on this as well as ideas for the back Smile

Looks awesome Beastmaster! Wink

Maybe on the back in addition to the obligatory Asian leaders you could whip up a Tannhäuser Gate (in the style of the $5 Lincoln Memorial or the $10 White house on U.S Currency).

cheers guys Smile

oldzey: I'm thinking of keeping it more symbolic, though a leader and events is an option I'm considering. I think Sir Run Run Shaw would be a good candidate as for Tannhäuser Gate I'm not entirely sure what it is or looks like, so might have difficulty with that.

cheers guys, glad you're all diggin it Cool

I'm thinking the back will be pretty much simular to the front. It probably wont have any illustrations or photos as most of the BR production design was very graphic based. It's also easier for me design-wise

I scrapped my design as it was looking a bit plain and I just couldn't be bothered to make everything else from scratch again Rolling Eyes

I thought it best to retrofit the currency and after searching countless old chinese banknotes for templates I decided to go with the JIAO. I was hesitant to use it at first because everyone else was using it, but in the end it made sense as it was the currency used at the time of the movie and it just looks darn cool! Cool

here's what I started last night. it took alot of work just covering up areas, but I'm happy with the design for now. the back will probably be the same as the original with a few modification ideas I have in mind.

Fantastic! Looks better than original 1 Yiao note. Darker colours and the centerpiece design.

Good work!

cheers guys,

I worked from source scans I got from phoenixvader. I have the original notes, just too lazy to scan them. the colours are pretty much the same as the scans.

I messed with the back of the not last night. again just suttle changes, mostely covering over stuff. here I tried to encorperate symbols represented on the real dollar bill like the eagle and the illuminati all seeing eye. I also thought it might be cool to have the southwell symbol as an silver authenticity strip or something.

Pretty cool, love the Free Mason/Illuminati symbol. Refers to the Blade Runner Illuminati of course Wink

I thought I'd give you all something new to look at Wink

andy convinced me that the JIAO was already overused and wasn't the right direction to go in, and I figured if it's gonna be a dollar bill then it has to look like a dollar bill.

designing completely from scratch is too difficult. you really need those intricate scratchboard illustrations to make it look interesting. copying the JIAO or any other note and making a few changes wasn't the answer either as it will always look like the JIAO and not really unique.

I came accross some chinese dollar notes which had really nice illustrations and ended up cutting and pasting areas to create a unique note based on the dollar bill's style. lots of Tom Southwell designs incorperated in there too, otherwise it just wouldnt be BR Wink

haven't figured what to put on the back. maybe an illustration of the tyrell building.
