My latest acquisition. Bought from Offworld MFG on evilbay. No idea who made it, but its a functional airsoft under the clamshell.

The very same indeed. He was selling two of these on evilbay, not sure if he acquired them from a third party or what tho. _________________

Are the grips resin or actual wood? Looks like one of Matsuo's, especially if the grips are resin. _________________ - Brian (formerly ToothTech)

Wouldn't be the first time they recast Matsuo. They also recast the grips for the Equilibrium guns for the airsoft they were selling.

The grips are resin, painted in a woodgrain pattern in what looks like acrylic paint. The paint feels kind of rubbery to the touch. _________________

As far as I know, all of Matt's had the woodgrain effect "cast in" the resin. If this is a recast, I think it might be the first one I've heard of that was built on an airsoft _________________ - Brian (formerly ToothTech)

Doesn't look like a recast of Matsuo's then. Wonder where it did come from. _________________

The Matsuo is really nice.Too bad that show totally went downhill..evenn the blasters turned to crap!!(They switched to a boring slight modified FN Five Seven after season 1) |

Given the amount of gunplay on that show, I'm not surprised they switched over to the FN. It must've gotten tiresome to have to remove the clamshell ever other take to reload the pistol then reattach it. _________________

Here are some images I compiled from the Propworx BSG Auctions to show the varieties of all BSG blasters.
All images are of original props or original art used in the creation of BSG.
BSG prop lots are being sold on that one auction site on a weekly basis (seller's name is "Propworx").
The full archive of all BSG props sold so far in all auctions (live and online) is here: http://therpf.com/showthread.php?t=56021
BSG Miniseries Clamshell Blaster Concept Art:
BSG Miniseries Clamshell Blaster:
Hard dense rubber Miniseries "Clamshell" blaster. This style was changed with additional detail for Season 1 and then abandoned for Season 2.
BSG Season 1 Clamshell Blaster:
A soft rubber stunt gun shows the added detail of the Season 1 blasters. These guns were generally identical to the Miniseries versions, but details were added to the clamshell before Season 1 to make the guns more interesting.
BSG Season 2 FN 5-7 Pistol:
Stunt FN 5-7 pistols (with rocket launchers). These were used for stunts and also as "holster stuffers" for any scene when Marines needed a gun in their holster. Top photo is made of soft rubber, bottom photo is made of hard rubber.
BSG "The Plan" Movie Resin FN 5-7 Pistol:
During the Battlestar Galactica movie "The Plan," a resin version of the venerable FN 5-7 was introduced and replaced the soft rubber stunt versions for Colonial Marine use. Superior detailing and a clean look made the new versions more realistic. These guns show less wear and tear than their rubber counterparts. This prop pistol was actually made by a RPF member (and not an official BSG propmaker) for the movie.

I've thought about doing a conversion on the FN 5.7 airsoft I have, but the trigger guard is based on the newer configuration FN 5.7 so it wouldn't be screen accurate on that count. _________________

Here is yet another variant of the Season 1 Clamshell Blaster.
This one was a fan-made Blaster and was listed in the RPF junkyard a while back.
I passed on it because (to me) it looked halfway between a Clamshell and a snubbie and I already had a Matsuo.
After looking at this one, it makes you realize how close yours (Loyalizer) really is to the Matsuo version.
However, it does have an interesting design, despite not being very SA. Note the commercial grips - enjoy...

Those type of grips were apparently used initially, in the miniseries and early first season, before the carved-wood grips showed up.

Thanks for the info Oldzey. I wish I'd known that before I made the buy. I'd much rather have put the money in Matsuo's pocket than some other guy recasting him. _________________

...same here...I just got the Offworld....does anyone know now to lay hands on "wood" grips?....clearly this is NOT a Matsuo...just as clearly a recast of it...sorta....my issues are with the "selector" switch..which simply looks lame on the recast and the grips which NEED to be wood....
....any help on replacement "wood" grips would be much appreciated...
