Good to see you back on this Fred.

Could the 'lid" be hair!

Or is the hole just badly cut giving it a ragged edge.

Looks different in every photograph.

I like the pen holder look.

It's all logical and everything Fred (the one with the hole in the head might be, as you said, serve as pen holder...why not).
As for the last B&W pic, I cannot tell if there's some kind of lid or something Confused

Thank you mates !

I think I'll go for a removable lid after all... Best option for now I guess...

Iím a longtime alien and BR fan but a newb to this forum. Hi there! This is my first post.

One thing mentioned in this thread is the cereal containers used in the Nostromo galley and after some careful examination of the screengrabs I think Iíve found them.

(MODULA pictured)

ROSTI plastic food containers.

https://www.rostimepal.com/en/storage/storage-boxes-modul.html#white

From the website:
"The reliable storage boxes Modul from Rosti Mepal have existed since the 1960's and will stay young forever. The Modul box is made of high quality plastic, it is easily stackable and comes in a great range of sizes. No wonder the Modulbox fits perfectly in any kitchen!"

I looked at a ton of food storage containers - many are out of period, or the wrong shape, or made of translucent/semi-opaque plastic. The Rosti company has TWO lines: The MODUL from the 1960s and the MODULA that is a little newer (but could still be in period, I wasnít able to find out). The main difference is the lids - the MODUL are flat white and the MODULA are ring shaped.

It could be either one, I think itís the MODUL but something interesting struck me in these hi res screengrabs:

Many/most of the containers in the galley scenes have no lid on them. The smaller containers have lids of varying types. there are a number of different smaller containers. It is not a total slam dunk as Iím not convinced the lids are identical to the MODUL. Itís not clear if the lids are identical although the containers are pretty dang close.

But what really makes me think itís the Rosti containers is the SPOONS.

The spoon handle shape here matches the curve of the spoons and ladles made by Rosti in the 60s and 70s. So clearly that brand was purchased by the prop department for Alien and if so the containers would have been right there. Perhaps the lids were modified or they filled in the clear areas of the MODULA lids or whatever, but Iím thinking Rosti kitchenware is definitely on that table.

So thatís my theory on the cereal containers. Smile

AMAZING find, I've just ordered a ton of these - we're getting a new kitchen and the missus has agreed to make it as Nostromo'y as I can. So these will come in useful!

Kitchen is WAY too small for seating lol. I've got the coffee maker, grinder, and we're decking it out in pure white with battleship grey floor lining. The containers arrived yesterday btw, they look fantastic. Now I just need to figure out what's being STORED in them in the mess. Any ideas?

As you can see I was able to make a few of them ! (please don't PM me to see if they're for sale, they're already gone in the hands of some good friends I have here)

Done from found stuff, JB.

The (heavily sanded) handle and canister came from 2 different sources... Spent some hours finding a canister with the right proportions and size.

Good results there Fred. I saw, years ago, a bottle of water that would've fit the bill; didn't buy it at the time and now, I don't see that bottle anymore Crying or Very sad oh well, c' est la vie.

Good find!

I had luck picking up some vintage ones, but this is a good option too.
