Hey everybody, hope all is well

so I am currently undertaking a major upgrade project to the Medicom spinner and am thinking about having custom steel 1cm wide spinner emblems made to replace the low detail decals that come with the upgrade kits... Its a tiny bit larger than the emblem should be at that scale but if it gets any smaller the detail will get squashed.

I contacted a guy about having them made and it is pretty expensive to have the initial run of about 100 made (about $450 us dollars!!) and so I was wondering if I could get an interest started here for any model builders looking to upgrade their kits.

If I can get 30 people (or less who'd want more than one set) interested the price would be $15 plus shipping each for a set of 3 etched emblems.

Any takers?

OR do any of you talented modelmakers have the ability to produce them for far less, and maybe have already done so?

thanks,
Chew

ok guys, I'm trying something different here...

I just put in an order for photo etched magnesium letterpress dies to be made that will be a fraction of the cost and look even cooler. they will have some dimension to them by way of being a bit thicker like the real emblem is. think of them as a typewriter letter block the only problem is that they are gong to need to be trimmed down to size but magnesium is really soft and easy to grind.

If it works I would gladly pass along my design and all the info on how to order.

grand total for as many as you can jam on to a 2" by 4" plate... $10.65!!!

I will post as soon I get them.

$450 my ass...

Sounds very cool, we could get different sizes on one sheet too.

HOLY MOLY! these look so amazing!!!

some of them have tiny dents on the edges so its good that 40 OF THEM fit on the same minimum sized sheet!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cool

any how the whole thing, all 40 shipped and cut comes to around $25.00 from www.owossographic.com Although for my first run I stupidly only ordered six not realizing that so many could fit on one sheet... oh well. maybe someone will toss me a couple as thanks!! Rolling Eyes the only additional charge will be like .60 cents per cut for any additional. or even better don't have them cut! order one sheet and cut them yourself!! as a side note my wife reminded me that magnesium is flammable so be careful.

PM me with your email and I can send you the illustrator file I sent them. Alternatively I can also send a PDF so please specify. (however mine came from the A.i. file) I will also send a copy of the Owosso order form so when you fill out yours online you will know exactly which options to choose.

The final size is a bit bigger than the decals I got with NYzeki's upgrade kit but it looks about right when held up to the door or back of the medicom car, I would worry about losing detail if they were any smaller and once hit with a wash of dark gray or black paint they will look even better!!!

P.S. I will be away this weekend for Easter so I will send out emails starting Monday.

Just for comparison, this is someone's photo of the original I think, I can't remember who's photo this is so I apologize for using it if that's not cool and will take it down if asked!! But it should be known its what I mainly used as reference.

Hey Thanks Ridleyville!!!

So here's the deal everybody, I really think the best way to handle this is to just give every one the files I sent to Owosso.com Its very easy and quick and under twenty dollars shipped.

I would suggest NOT having them cut as I did. the metal is very soft and easily cut with a dremel or tin snips and some fine filing and sanding is going to have to be done any way- why spend .60 cents a cut just to separate them from the main plate?

so to all interested just PM me with your email address and I will send the files out!!
