Well, as i'm in a bit of a 2001 mood i thought i'd attempt my own HAL in Adobe Illustrator.

I'm still new to Illustrator but it's getting easier.

Here's the result...

If anyone wants one lmk and i can email you it. I can customize it aswell if you'd like.

Could you do one with "Daddy Is Watching" for me please? It'll be put in my daughter's computer room. Very Happy

Thank you.

Very nice - wish I knew how to do all things Adobe! Very Happy

Here's my HAL 9000 which I picked up at the RPF (built by Jmtwo "using Phase Pistol's excellent blueprints as the basis for all the dimensions").

Here's the build thread:
http://therpf.com/showthread.php?t=19976

Resized it and put it next to yours for comparison:

Nice work!

I researched HAL pretty thoroughly a few years ago.. concluded that the lens was a particular Nikkor fisheye. Drew up scaled blueprints and everything.

Couldn't get anywhere with it though... the Nikkor lenses are quite expensive, and machining something that looks like a lens in acrylic is not cheap. Shocked

Great work on that Oldzey & Karl!

I was looking at kits on the bay earlier, some pretty nice ones availible.

Cool to know that the orignal used a real world part aswell, shame about the price of them Sad

Instead of sending these by email i'll just post them here instead.

I made a few extra aswell Very Happy

Oldzey, let me know what you want on yours and i'll post it aswell Wink

I just read this...

"In order to get the relaxed tone for HAL's voice, Douglas Rain spoke his lines barefoot with his feet resting on a pillow."

Alot of really interesting trivia on IMDB about this movie.
