Good eye, Graham !!!
My theory regarding your great find : It's maybe what was finaly left of the sequence where Parker & Brett were supposed to explore the Nostromo thrusters on a small maintenance shuttle while orbiting the alien planet ???
My 2 cents...

I agree with fengiddle's post on the elevator, at least between decks B and C.....the crew would need some means to carry lifesupport items; carrying them up and down the ladders would be a pain. |

BTW, another concept Nostromo found in the DVD bonuses...
It's funny because the shape reminds me a little of the Space 1999 Eagles... and the ID letters "LM" remind me of the Apollo "LEM" (landing module).

Fred! I think you just found the ship that houses the CSL bridge! look at the two globes at the front.
this ship and the Snark also remind me of the Dark Star
Cobb seemed to love that observation dome thing a lot during this period in his designs

It sounds plausible.
The white chariot could also be intended for use OUTSIDE the ship, once docked, to carry things like food for the flight (like the small chariots in use in railway station platforms all over the world) and crew members luggage (who knows ?) or even flight files and flight recorder boxes directly to Deck A !
Think about it... if you consider the size of MU-TH-UR (a whole room), then try to imagine the size of the flight files needed to feed the beast ! They could be the size of a staircase ! They would maybe also need a few of those, just like HAL9000's memory disks... a chariot would then be very useful to carry them in and out of the ship. the carrier wouldn't go further than the access sas once aboard the ship.
Then an access sas to Deck A would be logical (easier than carrying them form Deck C to Deck A), and also the presence of this chariot in this sas during the flight in the film.
A last thing : If you think about it, pilots don't board their planes (even cargo planes) by the cargo area, they always have a direct access to the cockpit !
So it would be logical that the Nostromo crew has a direct access sas/door to Deck A.

Wow, I just noticed that the numbers on the side of that ship are different on the port and starboard sides... LM3201 and LM32011. |

SAME AS JB, WELCOME !
I must admit though that it breaks my heart a little each time I take a look at those photos because of the "docking tube" they didn't even re-sticked with the correct angle...

I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed - but you had the guts to say it... Maybe they'll go back and fix that one thing for us...
After seeing Space Jockey's awesome plans I knew I had a lot to do on my Nostromo model, maybe one day I will have the time to rework it from the ground up

Hi John, nice to see you here
Longtime admirer of your conceptual work (and pinup photography skills .)
Regardless of the docking tube, I am extremely envious of you getting to work on Nostromo!! And it sure looks better on display than cooped up broken in some storage unit somewhere.
And if you hear of any art department drafters needed anywhere heck, let me know!
Starigger….
Thanks for your comments. I do actually have an airlock door I made a while ago, never finished the rest of the airlock it if it is of any use….I know this isn’t on the Bridge, but anyway I have it. Will post a pic or two over the weekend.

I was told by through the grapevine that they discussed how to do the docking tube, and made a conscious decision to actually mount it crooked... I was wondering why ? also I was wondering why they did not do all of the interlock flaps on the engines...? _________________ ______________________________________

I don't think anyone has said the contrary to my knowledge; I remember the images that were released before restoration started of the Nostromo, which had shown it sitting outside parked between some storage units (before they loaded it onto a truck to the FX shop, presumably).
I think my favorite part of the model is how they re-made the landing legs. (I’m going to try to persuade my wife to let me fit some to the bed somehow, but I don’t feel I’ll be successful.)
But totally correct in what you guys are saying (and I think I may have said in a previous post a while back) about the docking tube etc; it’s the finishing touches that are what people (i.e. ardent fans such as us) remember. Sometimes these kinds of things get missed or not done because of deadlines etc.
However, if they provide the flights and a crate of Stella and/or Guinness, we could go down there and fix it! |

shoot, for what my German friend calls Beer Poo (any American beer - before we have issues, I am from the huge state of NJ, USA. ) I'd be there under my own power...
And in the spirit of the current discussion, I always feel compelled to revise my bridge every time new photos come up, and I see the errors I have made. So with that said, here is the new and improved Command Chairs in progress:

You are very welcome, and your gifts keep coming, I sure would love to see what you have, My goal is to have the entire production set run through the Sketchup process. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
As I have worked on this project my skills are improving greatly, And I'm seeing what a monumental task just putting these sets together in the first place must have been. I'd love to be able to shake each and every one of the crews hands for a job well done. From the first few Alien related pictures I saw in the pages of Starlog when I was about 15 years old I was hooked on the designs, I am having a ball doing this now.
