The Bridge!

Wasn't expecting that one! Its on my list that's all I'm saying. I've got my hands full with the mess.

I've got a pretty good idea of its layout. Infact on the small deck plans space jockey posted you can get a definate idea of the space. The rear section is lower than where the crew sit and that table is at the back of the raised level (like the Cobb sketch). There is lots of reference about. Why not have a go at working it out.

I might have a go a doing more on my mess/galley/autochef. I may start by geting the table and seating right and then do the floor pattern and work out from there.

Would anybody like to confirm if the floor of the mess is the same floor as the main airlock where Ash stands and probably the floor before Ripley boards the shuttle?

Nice work!
Will take a look when I next watch the movie (I haven't seen it 3 months!!!!) Laughing

I posted a few pics in the propstore of a smaller version of the Nostromo print for those interested. I had a couple of people enquire about it so I'm now offering those as an option.

Oh, I like the look of those Space Jockey!

I've been meaning to get one of your larger versions but space is an issue and these smaller ones looks like they'd fit the bill. Must speak to the bank.

On a separate note I've also re done the Mess table again. I'll post a picture soon. Not quite happy with the rendering so I'm still tinkering. I've made it 14 sided (Last was 12) and all curved rather than faceted. I was looking at the cut away table in the behind the scenes and it looked like a continuos curve.

Some time ago I said I'd post a picture of my new version of the mess table. Computer overhaul got in the way. So here it it.

Thanks joberg,

There's so much good stuff happening on this board I keep being pulled from one project to the next and thus not much progress gets made on anything. The most logical thing is maybe to tackle the mess floor and work out from there!

Would love to see some more space jockey sections of the claw room as discussed earlier in this thread.

As you can see, not much detail yet, but I'm trying to get the structure first.

Here's a couple of renders. All the flooring levels are now in place, and reworked the windows, added some of the floor grill work, lighting and the console over the rear section. More detail to come, and don't forget the grunge! Maybe this is what the Nostromo looked like off the showroom floor? Anyone who can share some good pictures of the rear area of the bridge would be tops in my book.

Wow--looks so different with lighting. It was such a detailed set you're gonna have fun rendering all the pieces applied around! Nice job.

Looks great Starrigger.

It would be good to see some actual angles from the movie on your CG model if thats possible. Maybe with a cut out figure in frame too.

Looking great: keep up the good work ( I think your "floor model" is very Japanese looking)

Hallo folks, been lurking on and off for ages, thought I'd finally join properly.

Some very nice CG work going on here, thought I'd join in so here's my take on the big model. I haven't done anything much on this over the southern hemisphere winter but am hoping to start it up again soon - kind of back-asswards I guess, but it's harder working in the shed on 'real' model stuff during the warmer months than it is to rug up and get things done during winter.

Anyway, hopefully this is a start. I'm trying to clear up a few small geometrical anomalies that I think are still outstanding, despite the excellent work of Space Jockey and others, and I think I'm getting there. Don't know if I'll ever take this all the way to a fully detailed model though as it is mainly in the interest of getting the basic accuracy of a large scratchbuild worked out.

Thanks joberg, sorry you can't see the pics, not sure what to suggest. Try a different browser maybe, I guess? What are you using? I'm using PC/Firefox and they're showing up fine for me...odd...

In case you have no luck, you're not missing too much. They're just renders of an almost-undetailed Nostromo model that I'm still fooling around with to nail down the geometry, well at least nail it down as far as I'm concerned, of course. I'm sure a hundred people would come up with a hundred slightly different outlines! Mine is a little more "sleek" than Space Jockey's, believe it or not (yes I did just use 'sleek' in a sentence relating to the Nostromo).
