Very good pictures Division6...yes Fred, it seems that your theory about St-Georges slaying the dragon could be the closest in so far as the story is concerned...just a twist though: St-Ripley slaying the dragon Wink

Glad you like the pix.

When I picked up the 1/144 scale Halcyon model last year I went through and screen capped the movie for every possible usable shot and then searched the web.

I'm hoping someone comes up with pix I haven't seen yet.

I've found today that the nose part of the shuttle was maybe used on the kid version of Dallas' EVA suit, as the front pack they wear under the chest armor !

Shocked

Saint-Georges didn't actualy kill the dragon, he won the fight by injuring the beast (just like Ripley... she doesn't kill the Alien, she shoots it but it's still alive and when it's ejected from the boosters of the shuttle it doesn't look dead neither).

I have some good news on this thread. Finally a studio size narcissus is coming out in the latter half of this year...I was talking to George at timeslip models and he is working on a kit that is going to be awesome....

Finally a large correct narcissus shuttle from the Original...I cannot wait for this one. Also he is going to have a great 15" refinery model available...!!

Great news as long as he doesn't have Wrong Wong making the master. Rolling Eyes
And only if it's the ALIEN version and not A2.

Well, it will be from Aliens. I have the best info and first hand knowledge of it. If sales go well enough I will do an Alien version. My kits are top notch. Ask anyone about TimeSlip Creations Just need to finish up another monster project first. Should be starting in about 2-3 weeks. It will have detail that has up till now never been known. Even the one at the Sci-fi museum is missing these parts!

Hi George,

I would do an ALIEN version in my humble opinion. The "ALIENS" one is just too messed up. There are several models of it out there, but the whole basic premise of the 2nd version is flawed. the "Aliens" miniature crew was trying to represent the original Narcissus, and they got it way off. The entire geometry is horrible. I think everyone here would agree we can get an "aliens" version anywhere, but it is not the same thing as the original. If you do make the original, I will for sure buy one of those. Looking very much forward to it!

That is something I've always dreamed of having. Is this absolutely true?!

And for what it's worth...I would be really interested in the Alien version Narcissus too. That makes 4 votes.

I am sure that we can generate enough interest to get an original Narcissus from Timeslip models. They have a great reputation and I for one am looking forward to a real Narcissus model in studio scale...nothing beats the Martin Bower original...!

Hi Guys,

I'm new here, but I've been around other modeling sites for a number of years.

I've been following this thread for a while now as I think the Narcissus is one of the best ship designs ever (as is the Nostromo).

What stirred me to write is that I’m also in the process of producing a studio scale kit but from the original film.

This is not a scaled up version of the Halcyon kit, but a well researched project, which has taken a number of years to get to this point.

The project was originally started by my good friend Bob Smith who was building it for his own collection.

I'm currently in the process of finishing of the detail and breaking it down into practical pieces for casting - no small challenge for something this size.

Just to let you know that by profession I've been a modelmaker for over thirty years, and therefore feel well qualified to do this classic subject justice.

Photographs of the part finished model can be found here:

I hope you like the progress so far!

Welcome Pro Mod...and what a way to introduce yourself. I like your model a lot and cannot wait to see it finished. Lot's of wiggets on that one alright (I'm sure you vintage kit collection is impressive). Wink

Any news of this project ?

Saw one of Martin Bower's NARCISSUS studio scale replicas at an exhibition held in La Cité des Sciences in Paris a few weeks ago... VERY impressive model !

I was fortunate enough to have my camera that day, so I took some photos, very "Karl Tate / Worldcon" style = a little blurry sometimes !!!

There's more marks and decals that I could imagine on that beauty !

The very particular bonus of this Bower replica is that the interior cockpit is the screenused one ! Don't ask me why / how it was incorporated in this model, I suppose it's all that's left of the screenused model after it was destroyed when the production wrapped ?

More photos very soon, stay tuned guys !

BTW, this model that was displayed is part of Arnaud Grunberg's collection. You can see a very small part of it (I was told he owns more than 1500 pieces !!!) here :

http://sciencefictionarchives.com/fr/accueil.htm

Enjoy !

This is interesting Fred, I seem to remember seeing that last photo ('smallnarc10.jpg') as part of a load of 'Alien' reference photos I got hold of a few years ago - is that shot definitely of the (Martin Bower) replica version cockpit and not the original model?

Harry,

Both Narc replica photos above were taken by me when I visited this exhibition in Paris.

The 2 photos of the cockpit interior came from Phil Rae, he sent them to me when we were in touch more than 2 years ago... They're photos of the real thing, the screenused version. this screenused version was incorporated in the Narc model I took photos of, at least that's what the description note of that prop told the visitors of the exhibition where it was displayed.

Sorry for the confusion !

BTW, could you tell us more about these A L I E N ref photos you got ?

Fred

Thanks Fred, that clears it up.

The images I got have all now appeared on the DVD supplemental sections I think so there's probably nothing that's not been seen before.

I'm not sure how to upload photos to here (I don't have my own webspace/Flikr etc.) but if I can I'll post up a contact-sheet of some of them.

Harry
