Thank you guys for all of the positive feedback and reference throughout this thread... this model Nostromo has been an obsession of mine since 1979 when I saw it at the age of 12 after a month of begging my mom to take me to the theater....... This movie is better than Star Wars, better than any movie ever made in my humble opinion... (but Pamela Hensley with the white gown and horned hat in Buck Rogers in the 25th Century comes pretty damned close..).. growing up does have it's advantages..mainly "bling-$$" and the internet that makes places and people like propsummit so helpful in making this model.

I made some more progress tonight...pinned the nacelle landing strut, drilled the mount-points for the antennas per the blueprints, did some more priming, and more details to the ship. she is getting there... I think I am going to cry when she leaves Arizona... however it is a very fun build.....

Wife not holding the camera still

...another removable landing strut with integrated doors....]

Interstellar and geologic arrays mounted....

Now doing finishing touches on the model, 4 extended floodlight booms, here is the first one that is a bit forward of the other three, I will find little gravel guards to put on the front of them...

LOL! thanks guys and we do love model porn indeed...

Here is more progress tonight..... Finishing the rear interlock flaps, and added the
landing flood booms extended out from the back. After viewing the Landing scene in the film, and seeing how they are extended out of the aft lower hull of the ship, I decided to create a three piece strut with a floodlight fixture that I had to change from looking like a standard stage light to something a little different. I have some coarse screen bits I will install to them for the gravel guards...

So much detail. Very nice work Jt..

Those flood booms are very interesting. I had no idea they were there. Will they have working lights, led's or so ?

Guys, Thank you very much for the nice words of encouragement.. coming from really great builders such as yourselves, it is quite a compliment!

tonight I finished the tedious albeit finishing touches on the remaining engine. I really love how the Nostromo being a "tug" has such a look of power to her. The whole design is amazing. My wife and I watched more paused scenes from ALIEN and we are just blown away every time we watched it from all the thought put into the design of the sets and hardware.....just amazing..

here is the finished remaining nacelle...

and then I started finishing the bridge.
As I continued on detailing the bridge and watching the film, I realized the two large windows must be at least 7 feet tall, and very long. I compared the large windows to the shuttle, and the size and scale is all fairly close. the two bes scenes are the helmets "talking" to each other during the beginning and the scene with Ash sitting just aft of the port bridge window.

Beautiful work. Really love how this is coming together. And the addition of the extra landing lights with the guards attached to the booms will really set it off nicely.
Keep up the great work.

HA HA!! I think I am a little obsessed ..

Tonight I am adding more "thingies" or whatever we should name them..
and scratch-built sensor arrays made from brass and aluminum...

I have suddenly come to realize...
"Jeezus, this is the most complex design I think ever done in a movie.."!!!..
..except maybe for the Draconia in Buck Rogers LOL!!!!!

Here is the front almost completed... I made a custom ring for the docking corridor and radar dish, and cast it to make an exact copy....Here is the corridor done...notice it is correct like the original Nostromo, not the "restored" version..

I am ready to install the radar dish..that is coming up next...

LOL thanks guys.. Tonight I am finishing the top docking module paint...
4 colors of gray, tons of tiny and larger pieces of masking tape.. sprayed in 4 overlapping layers, then sprayed through stencils and finally tonight I will "weather" it ..(for what ever weather exists in space...maybe weather from a mysterious planetoid)

Here is a Weylan Yutani logo on the top....
SO I suppose I have done as much airbrushing as possible, all the rest of the weathering I will do by hand, should not be too bad..

and etching in panel lines for more depth....
