Scoffman,

Looks great! There must be some parallel universe stuff occuring here. I just recieved my Sidkit in two package on Monday and Thursday (order it from Siderios friend who had one left). I live on the other side of the mountains from you in Everett. Great ideas, and I will follow your lead on the aging / oxidation .

Hope one of us is not a replicant. Later man!

Cool

Well 2 years on I'm still working on mine.....

All original Bulldog, Steyr 1968, custom made steel parts and many $1000's later....

It's fully functional but not quite 100% there yet.

After looking at your pics DeckB26354, all I can saw that is some incredible work and my efforts at an accurate replica totally blow! Although I must say, I haven't spent near the amount of money you have... but that is one sweet peice of work. Thanks for sharing the link! Hope you finally finish it soon...

Thanks for your comment bosstiki! I guess it is a small parallel universe afterall! Glad you liked my tips on oxidizing/aging the parts. If you do decide to go that route, just make sure you wear rubber gloves and eye protection when working with the ferric chloride... it's no where near as nasty as working with say nitric acid, but it is still toxic and somewhat hazardous... have adequate ventilation as well...it doesn't put off any fumes but it does smell strongly of rust... go figure. The nice thing about working with it is you can dump the spent chemical down your sink or toilet and it's not going to mess up your pipes and isn't a hazardous waste in the sewage system because it's iron ions... even the directions on the back of the bottle say to dispose of it by fkushing it down your toilet. Gotta like that! Anyway, hope to see pics of you efforts soon... have a better one!

P.S. Hope it's warmer over there on your side of the state than it is here... still freaking getting light snow coming down now and then... so tired of that and tired of having to scrape my car windows... I thought it was suppsed to be spring!

Thanks for the handling and care instructions for the chems! Will do with gloves and eye protection. I'm sure Tyrell Corp would want an arm and a leg for replacement eyes...

The weather has been the pits over here too. This weeks end saw snow and I couldnt believe it. You jinxed me with the comments on your snowy weather.

Thank-you again for the great advice on your assembly techniques. I'm think about trying to cut into the side casing as well to expose the cylinder under the lock lever to be more like the movie version. Sidkit and Coyle are working on the new Worldcon version which will be awesome, I'm sure, and capture all of those details.

Winter is almost gone, hang in there for a few more windshield scrapings.

LOL Very Happy Thanks for the kind comments. Much appreciated and I loved the jaw dropping pic!

Of cause you are right, I have spent more on this than any sane person would ever dream of and now I am getting close to perfection the obsession is taking over!!

I know at the end of the day it is just a gun and all my friends walk past it without a glance........but we all know beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Right?!!! Wink

Yes, that is true... I would not have spent that much money or time on a replica myself, but I can't say I'm totally sane... hehehe.... but at the end of the day when one of yer drunk friends drops it on the floor it probably isn't going to chip or dent either... or if it does, yer not gonna get pissed cuz it aint a piece of tin/zinc/resin. Smile I applaud you again, that is an awesome piece of work!

Thanks guys. Yes its a Sidkit. I wanted one but waited to long. I got a deal to build/paint one in trade for an un-built one. The guy wanted a World con version so violla! Fairly straight forward build with the online instructions and ref pics here. I added the green LEDs for a little more authentic look.
Anyway nice to meet you all.
Christian

I thought I should add my newly completed PKD-1 re-issue to the comparison since there aren't any here yet.

Here's some more shots.
