While I praise the film thoroughly, I will admit to being a little disappointed in the interior design of the Moon station. It just doesn't seem revolutionary in any way. It just looks like "2001" with graphic touches from "Alien".

Not a poor pedigree by any means, but IMHO it's too familiar and just doesn't break any new ground. The sets also seem rather rudimentary and low-budget, as though built for a TV series. Again, not a deal breaker but not impressive either.

The visuals of the mining machines and lunar tractors crawling across the landscape, are quite striking though, as are the vistas of the Moon and Earth from space. A very clean and naturalistic style.

Sam Rockwell's performance is superb, he literally carries the film single-handedly. Supported by a mind-boggling story which boldly faces some key SF issues (but in a fresher and more intellectual way than, say "Battlestar Galactica" with which it shares some conceptual DNA).

Great review Karl.
I'm hoping i'll get a chance to see it soon.
As for Sam Rockwell, i think he is a great actor.
Thought he was great in Assassination of Jesse James and Hitchhikers aswell.

I've only heard about this film during the last couple of days. I must be living in a cave. Well, I don't have television at the moment, so maybe that's why. I'll have to check it out. Big fan of Solaris and Sunshine, too.

Interesting that in this age of "screeners" (movies filmed by video cameras snuck into a movie theater) that there is still no trace of a "Moon" screener on the Internet.

Still scouring the Internets for a screener of this one, but no luck.

It's extremely unusual for a current movie to have eluded the rapidshare henchmen for so long.

Thereason it ain't been around much - is it ain't been around much.
Here in the UK it was released on the same day as Harry Potter, so didn't have a chance of being seen in anything other than arthouse venues (traditional 2 or 3 screen cinemas had to have Potter and Transformers, while big Multiplexes like mine have 9 or so screens but, when 4 are taken up with Potter and 3 with Transformers, there was just nowhere to put it).
I saw it in London, was good - but not as good as i wanted it to be, and really don't think it'll loose too much if watching it for the first time on DVD.

Pulling it down right now

Yup, was pretty darn good.

Won't spoil it either but I will say it was a tad bit short.

However, given the situation, the brevity was necessary.

Duncan is still talking about how much 'Mute' his next film is going to be Blade Runner inspired...

It is also supposed to share timeline with 'Moon' and work as a spin off.
