BTW I had a theory that on the "working" prop, the little view screen was actually a "commlock" screen from Space 1999.

I have no real evidence of this, but it just seemed reasonable to me.

Only a few years apart and made by the same people, so a very good chance they are the same, if not reused from.

There's quite a bit of good info here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=3492&highlight=alien+motion+tracker

Here are some of the parts I acquired during the course of that thread

Not pictured are the correct slider switches we tracked down

The CRT tube is not the correct one, and the right ice tray and nutplates remain a mystery.

One of the main problem with the Alien props is that these guys had access to all kinds of parts and pieces coming from de-commissioned planes (jet, transport, etc)...and Lord knows how many switches, button and what not they put on those props Shocked Confused

I cast it and no we don't know what it is. As far as I know it did not come off a screen used tracker but it is the part.

Oh man, Steve, you simply rock !!!

This motion tracker is going to be something... Will you include a TV screen inside, as on the real one ? (and I don't talk about sou,d effects, that would be cool, too... No ?)

Cool

Can't wait to see progress pics on this !!!

One of the major problem on that prop is the ice tray Shocked Short of making a mold of the original, it's going to be hard to find one exactly like it.
