Thanks to that nice bloke Jtparker, i've got my mitts on a dinky 5" version of this classic craft.
Almost done with the clean-up and looking forward to assembling. Would post a pic here but Photobucket seems to be down right now, so here's a shot of where i am on my Blog:

http://2000admodelling.blogspot.com/

My original intention was to not use the base and make some sort of docking platform for it, but the eggs are REALLY nice and you never see shots of it other than with landing gear down, so am going for the original use of the base and have it flying over.

Woah... I like that weird spacecraft design on the blog site... Looks like some kind of barge- towing vehicle the way the engines are set up...
nice site!

I like the design of that space-ship! Always fun to see stuff being scratch-built

Ok mangamax...you will flip over this..

I found a German Website with a built-up incredible little model of the original F/X kit from U.K. before I bought the master-molds.
and the funny thing is, I am not sure if it came with a base or not (by the original cubic packaging, I doubt not).. But I added a simple base with some strange details that might be useful at 2 different detail levels.

Model kit (Building and painting required) (Painting-Service)
Producer: FX-Models
Material: Resin
Size: 13 cm
Order No: AL050

This little model is incredible, and as you can see, it is just the few basic parts before I added a large amount of parts for the engine flaps and other details. What a great model here!!!
It really puts mine to shame

Wee bit of progress.
Added some tendrils for the eggs out of Super Sculpy and some extra panels for the "shoulders", which i tought looked a bit bare compared to the lovely detail on the sides.
Trouble is, now i've done that, guess i've got to do it for the side pods.

Sorry about the delay in progress on this, but i've so many projects on the go and so much "real world" stuff to deal with its untrue.
Anyway, finished putting the extra panels on, bunged on the engines and am now adding their cowls:

Okay, all the panels are on now and its assembled. Couple of modifications - added a few prongs to get across the antenne feel at the front, and i've used Plasticard for the engine baffles rather than the supplied one's as they're a wee bit thick i think.
And you can see i've started painting the eggs as well:

Qucik shot to show you where i'm up to today.
Can't get access to Zinc Oxide Primer for the basecoat right now, so am building it up with various metallics over a Matt Black base:

Okay, eggs are all done and, of course, the challenge here is how to make a solid resin object appear translucent?
The way i try is to put tons of different washes over the basecoat, to try and convey stuff going on that isn't there, and then plenty of Gloss Varnish.

Good stuff...another trick is to use wax floor to achieve a high gloss transparent finish instead of varnish (easy to buff, and you can stack-up the coats in record time)
