It just looks better and better!
I really admire what you’ve both achieved.
I just hope that when I build mine it looks half as good as yours!
I've been playing around in Photoshop with the photograph from the auction site and I've got quite a good image of the original key.
The image created is what I believe to be about full size, and the detail has held up quite well.
The image is here - http://propsummit.com/upload/878/mu-th-r_key.jpg
It's looking a bit 'tired' with a crack on the upper face and the screws starting to show through on the timber handle, still, it's in a remarkable state for something over 30 years old.

Thanks Phil for that great pic! Might be a smidgen on the big side but close to 1:1 scale. |

Once owned by the person who helped get ALIEN Wars going.
Prop Store now has the Kane suit. The Key is the one we have seen for sale. The Gun is still in his possession I am told.
FYI.. |

Well... this is it.
That's the key replica finished, done, and ready to be posted off to Bob. With any luck he'll have it next week. I can't wait to hear what he thinks.
In the end Colin mixed up his own green and airbrushed it on.
Sorry about the 'watermark' by the way... I was about to post the photo and then I had a vision of it 'escaping' onto the internet and being copied mercilessly, edited and mis-labelled as the original - which is, as you know, what we want to avoid.
There's not much chance of that happening with the actual replica fortunately. If you look at the brass piece right in the centre, it clearly says '2010'. Nobody's Photoshopping that out. _________________ Mike

Most excellent work guys! No need to apologize for water-marks and "tells'' on a prop: the last thing we want is re-casters and their ilks trying to copy/claim a piece for their own |

Seriously cool. And it looks better than the original. What a way to celebrate Bob too. The most generous guy in the prop collecting universe.

It looks terrific. I think I like it better than the original one, to be honest. |

Ladies and gentlemen... it is done.
The key has arrived safely in America, and been placed in its new home:
It fits perfectly (that's just as well!).
Bob sent me a nice email which I won't quote, but suffice to say that he was very pleased to get it and quite touched by the gesture.
So thanks to Colin who did most of the work... and also to anyone else here who helped along the way. All of the encouraging posts kept me going when I might have given up otherwise.
I can't believe it's over! "It's been a long road..." But giving Bob back a copy of something that was stolen... I really feel as if I've been part of something worthwhile.
I'm going to post the whole story on the RPF soon, so if you are a member there too, please don't give away the ending. _________________ Mike

Wow, that last pic brought, almost, a tear to my eyes; to finally see the prop whole is incredible.
Big thanks Mike and Colin for a job well done: these pics are worth a thousand words |
