So I got my very first NON-Solid resin blaster. Yeah it's nice but man does it need to be modded. Looks to much like a toy, doesn't have fifth red led or switch in correct place. To much plastic, Trigger guard needs to be metal. Much to tiny for my hand. I dont think I have oven mitts, but my hand curls all the way around this sucker and my pinkie hangs off. So Show me what you did and how and who. Let me put some pride in this puppy. And yes I also got the upgraded receiver. I know this is the beater of the blasters. This is what you take to the Conn, what you wear on halloween. Im fine with that. I just want it to look and feel as good as possible. Thanks in advance for your wisdom and advice.

O.K!!! So no help. Could someone at least let me know what size tools are needed to strip the off-world down. What type paint you used to repaint it. I think I read to soak the parts in pinesol to lift off the paint. How do you get that orange plug out. Can you light the green led's? Does anyone sell metal upgrade parts? Thanks

You can use a corkscrew to get the orange pug out.

Pinesol might not work on the metal receiver - try Aircraft stripper - really toxic stuff but will get all the paint off of the metal without harming it - but make sure you use gloves in a well ventilated area. Then you can blue the metal and it looks really nice.

Also you can upgrade the revolver with a real .38 charter arms as it is an exact match in dimensions. You can also use a real CA .38 cylinder which adds much needed heft to the blaster.

Just some screwdrivers and basic set of allen head wrenches should be all you need need to strip it down. The blaster comes apart really nicely without getting ruined or damaged.

You can also use Non-Acetone nail polish remover to get the paint off plastic parts, it'll take more elbow grease but it will get the majority of the paint off.

The main tool you will need is a 2.5mm (#8 ) allen wrench. Also a 4mm for the Butt plate, a 2mm for the back of the bolt cap, and 5mm for the front post under the the ammo housing. If you take that screw out, you can push the orange plug out from the inside and keep it for later undamaged. 1st step then would be to get a metric allen head wrench set I guess. A basic Jeweler's set would work for the rest.

I haven't stripped all my parts yet, but oven cleaner does seem to work well on the metal parts. Supposedly it will work on the plastic as well, but I am too chicken to try it. Using gun blue and oil on the metal parts seems to have a nice effect. I am using black primer for pretty much everything else and then weathering it and drybrushing. Since I no longer have a place to paint right now not much has been done in a while.

Good luck and make sure you download all of Karl's(Phase Pistol's) Woldcon photos.

O.K. we have full sets of Allen wrench's at work I'll just borrow one for the day. So your saying you can replace the plastic gun body with a real 38 special made by charter arms? What style and body type? Can you get just the frame and cylinder without a pistol permit.

As long as they are .38 "undercover special" charter arms parts you are good to go. The grip frame is universal on all the revolvers.

O.K. my 38 special undercover bag of parts I won on gunbroker showed up. I pretty much won the whole gun with the receiver cut off and no grips. The trigger guard snapped off in the mail but that had to be removed anyways. Does any one have pictures or tips on installing this stuff? My budget has dried up do to medical reasons so it looks like this is going to be my only gun, so I want to make the best out of it. I see that on the Steyr website the sell the rem 222 mag clips does anyone know if the markings are the same?

As of yet nobody has done this conversion. 1st of all what ever you do, DO NOT fire this gun! The gasses normaly expelled out the open cylinder will blow the parts off of it.

Also you will need to have a professionally cut down barrel blank attached. The hero gun also looks to have had its's cylinder screwed down to keep it flying open after the release rod was cut short. The gun body will need to be drilled and tapped in gun steel, so a gunsmith might need to help you with that work too.

Honestly the Offworld is a nice little replica, but the main things I would do is repaint it and see about having the Buttplate and Trigger Guard reproduced in metal. Still waiting for the new Offworld guys to do this as well.

there is noway I would be able to fire this. having the front of the gun included was cool but worthless. I will still be using the main body of the off world gun. Just changing out the gun handle frame and cylinder. dont know what other parts I can swap out other than the cylinder opening switch and the trigger. I'm sure that all the parts are not hidden inside of the plastic receiver. Since the toy doesn't even rotate the cylinder I doubt the parts are in there. Imight add the firing pin just for ha-ha's
