Question: I would like to try using urethane foam as a buck for vacu-forming...any tip you could give me would be helpfull (any releasing agent I have to use on the foam, or do I have to use bondo to make the buck stronger)? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Thanks.

to use the foam for a buck for forming, first make sure your foam is at least 5 lb density. as for a release., make sure you get the foam as close to the shape you want, i would suggest if its spot on just primer it and sand smooth with 400 or finer, then you can dust it with baby powder or a thin coat of vaseline for a release.

i try not to add to much bondo if i dont have to. also it depends on how many pulls you are going to have to make. if you have any other question feel free to PM me.

Thanks Al

Al,
Nice work as always. How far are you intending to go with any lighting and interior cockpit detail just out of interest?

Looking good Al...are you going to vacu-form the cockpit, or clad it with plasti-card or something else altogether?

Im going to finish it completely and then mold it in silicone, and make a hollow copy out of Epoxy fiberglass. then im moving onto the tail.

Thanks Al

Yes, the smaller parts will be resin. the larger parts like the engines and the cockpit will be made out of epoxy fiberglass.
