Hi all,

I got the 3D printers and am slowly testing things out to try and get them up and running.

One is an older zCorp that prints in color and uses the lower resolution powder based stuff. It will be good for bulkier parts or larger pieces where we wouldn't lose detail by sanding.

The second one bear more interesting possibilities. It prints in wax. That means it perfectly suited for investment casting and burnouts.

Anyway, wanted to give a heads up and I will keep you guys up to speed as things progress. There are going to be some parts here and there I will need to replace since they have been sitting for a bit unused.

Cheers,
David

What brands and models do you have?
Do you have any technical info or links?

Gary

Well, I am going to have to order a few parts.

I'll be getting new print heads for both printers, hopefully very soon since I c an't wait to print some stuff out.

One is a zCorp 406 which is the predecessor of the 510. It prints in color, but it's got a rougher surface resolution than other technologies. It is still fairly effective for larger parts and parts the don't need a ton of detail.

The other one is a 3D systems thermojet. It's an older model, but I like it since it prints in wax. THe surface detail on it is nicer and I can directly use the models in burn out molds for metal casting.

I'm also working on picking up and objet printer which would be the icing on the cake since it will print in polycarbonate and also a rubber like material or any mix of both. It's surface detail is one of the best among additive systems and printing in a vert strong plastic is nice in itself.

We'll see how that goes.

I'll keep you guys posted.
