|
|
Hi all
I thought I would throw this question out: Has anyone found grey foam to match the colour and thickness seen laying next to the PLatt case in the PIH photos?
I'm not lucky enough to have a Platt Case but have something of a similar size and I know other members have been lucky enough to find a matching case.
Anyone found the correct foam? |

I actually do have a Platt case, but the only foam that was still in it was a thin piece. I have found some that were close, but none of the exact color or density, or even the full size. The closest I have found is stuff made for camera cases like the Zero Halliburton, but they tend to run pretty expensive. The rest I have scrounged from recycled boxes for laptops, and stereo equipment.

Thanks Andy
I think I'm right in saying that the thin peice you mention (which is also pictured right at the bottom of the Hero case) is the only original foam that came with the Platt case. The foam they used on top of that peice and also for the lid is custom cut foam and now probably no longer available.
I have only had a tentative look around but again like you have not found that light grey colour at that thickness.
I will keep trying........ |

The foam is not that light in color. I think it looks lighter because of how the flash reflects off the texture, and compared to the darker color of the black case. It is a darker grey foam.

Thanks Andy
I see what you mean about the colour. It's still a little lighter than I have been able to find but it's encouraging to know I have been aiming a little too high!
I'll let you know if I find anything..... |

Could someone post a pic of that foam type? I might have old pieces available (thickness also would be great) |

Here you go.
I have worked out the measurements as closley as I can. I think I am pretty spot on.
As Andy pointed out the pic with the sponge removed makes it look slightly lighter than it probably is. The one of it back in the case is a better representation of the colour.
Let me know if you find anything....... |

DeckB, my back foam is exactly the colour and thickness you need (1.2mm)

The bottom one is 5mm (top of the peak part) without is 4.5mm

As you can see they fit both into a Haliburton case
If you're interested, send me a PM with your address and I'll send both of them.

Hi all
Well, a HUGE thank you to joberg who not only sent 2 peices of foam all the way from Canada but they were perfect!
Here are some photos as promised. I found it pretty easy to mark and cut.
I am a very happy man.

But there is still plenty of room for accessories. _________________ "...ist sie teuer?" "Außerordentlich!" |
