No film locations that i know of near me Sad

One place i would love to visit would be the harbor in La Rochelle, where they filmed Das Boot.

What a strange coincidence, La Rochelle is my birthplace and i will be there for Xmas vacations !!...

If someone had some shots of the movie i could try to take a few photos of the actual location !... to find the correct angles !

I remember also that a scene of Raiders Of The Lost Ark was shot there too !...in the submarine base

Always thought the RAIDERS submarine base was shooted in Saint Nazaire ? (yeah guys, those fucking nazis left us bunkers everywhere in the country... one of those is currently turned into a section of the new concert hall in the town I live in)

Fred

PS : Phil, if you go to La Rochelle for christmas, could you also take pictures of that galleon they're constructing in Rochefort ? (no, I won't ask for Les demoiselles de Rochefort location photos, although I like this movie a lot)

I heard they shot Raiders at La Rochelle, same as Das Boot.
Raiders even borrowed the same Uboat mock-up.

I could resist picking this up today when I accidentally happened across it. It's a body kit model for 1/28th scale RC cars made by SKYNET (Auto Scale Collection):

I may pickup the RC components later down the line; not sure yet. Just thought I'd share.

Fred, unfortunately i won't have the occasion to go to Rochefort as my stay in La Rochelle will be so short, i will barely have the time to go to La Palice harbour to take photos of the submarine base...too many people to see in short time Confused ...well, i'll try to do my best !!

As for the Hermione here is a link with a lot of documents :

I'd just like to say a HUGE thank you to Phil (Repdetect) for sending me some wonderful photos of the bunkers at La Rochelle.

It's a dream of mine to seem them in person one day, fingers crossed.

Let me know if it's not cool, Phil, but I thought I'd share a photo with everyone...

Neil.

Thanks again for these Phil.

One thing I was wondering is if the cranes are from the same time period?
There are quite a few cranes seen at the end of Das Boot and I'm wondering if these are the same ones?

They look pretty similar to the ones seen here...

Will add some more pictures soon Smile

Neil.

EDIT

Just noticed this aswell.
Just to show which pen U-96 comes out of.

Hey All,
Seems a long time ago when i kicked this off and Ive finally managed
to put together an acceptable replica of the Dark Ones signiture sprayer.
After much searching and scraping, came up with enough bits to put a much better version of the sawn off than i had together.
The only real shotgun parts are the stock, the forehand grip, the triggers and the trigger guard, everything else was scratch built.
I just started by joining the stock and grip with a metal rod and filled in the rest from there.
Parts for the rest were pvc tubing, metal strip for weight at the front, 4mm ply, plyable "document protecter" plastic
to make the "metal" surround and what makes this gun unique from others, the globe surrounds from the gauges of an XB, i dismantled
one for another project and they seemed perfect for the job.
Finished it off with a very light sanding and a coat of mahogany stain.

BOITO HAND GRIP AND STOCK

XB DASH BITS

Lucky for me the gun fit the holster as i didnt check until it was finished.

Thanks all, I came across this posted HD capture of the original and
had to make some minor adjustments like scrounging a safety and using some filler. Apart from some obvious differences, i think its more
accurate than the commercialy available ones.
