This is just a take off of my other thread.
I wouldnt mind hearing some ideas of what
some of you might want machined for the
offworld and other prop guns.

Hey. Aside from the bolt i'll kick this off by suggesting the rear section of the upper receiver.

Wish I had a small cnc it would make doing these
parts alot easier. Of course if I had both a cnc lathe
and mill Id be machining a whole new gun from
aluminum solid. It would also be based of a .44
special.

Just a thought of what I wouldnt mind doing.
1. Butt plates: which Im doing at the moment
2. Bolt: when I made mine I did it in 2 pieces
because theres an undercut that the
bolt arm slides into.
3.Cylinder: adds some weight.

A few would like the barrel which may be an option
but heres the thing, when I put the steel barrel
on mine I had to cut the existing barrel off and
drill a hole in the frame for the new one.It may not
be the best way for some to go.If the frame gets
screwed up you may as well toss the gun. As the first 3 options
stand they are replacement parts that can be put
back to origional if need be.

I thought about the cylinder but does this add too much weight to an area that is already weak. At least on my OffWorld the swing out cylinder and cover seems to be the only piece where I have any movement.

I agree with DonParker regarding a steel barrel but what if the barrel was made from aluminum with a little tab that could be inserted into the hole where the barrel meets the cylinder chamber? Aluminum is obviously lighter than steel and I think could be secured with the existing screw attachments and some epoxy. However, with that said the barrel is the last replacement part on my list. The whole bolt and rear section as well as the trigger guard and outer grip frame are my first choices.

DonParker you make any replacement pieces for the OffWorld and I will buy them Very Happy

Well guys Ive made 2 grip frames but they take time.
so Ive been looking at the thread for the tomenosuke
blaster and how he machined that. That machine is
simular to the machines that I have and he uses a
rotary table with jigs for the radiuses. So I think that if
I get all the radiuses set on a jig just like that, the
outer grip frame is very doable. As a matter a fact I'm
making a jig right now for the butt plates.Obviously
machining just 1 doesnt require a jig but being
from a production environment I know jigs are
the way to go.

Guys Im working on the butt plates however
its going a little slow.As im typing this the
temp outside is 5 degrees...global warming my a_ s. Mad
Anyway Im also working on a master pattern
for the outer grip frame. Most of the money from
the butt plates will be going for tooling and aluminum
for making these.Anyways thanks again guys.
