This barrel is either out of round, or has been bored incorrectly. Any way to fix it, or is it time for a new (steel) barrel from Mike? Suggestions welcome.

Well, besides the fact that your barrel looks lopsided, the problem with Sids Barrels is that they are totally the wrong bore and that the bevel is flat.

If yours is an all metal Sidkit then another problem you could face is that after a bit of wear, the two screw holes securing the Steyr upper to the barrel might strip. Because of the soft metal Sid used, this can be caused by two things: firstly repeatedly working the bolt and secondly, because the top is so heavy it puts a lot of uneven strain on the barrel screws when picking up the blaster - if its been lying on its side.

Happily mine is seldom handled so I'm not faced with that problem but I can see that this is in all likelihood a potential problem on the metal versions.

I believe a metal alternative will not only give you the correct barrel profile but it will also give you a barrel that will inherently have more strength - that way, if you want to handle your blaster fairly frequently, then you can!

Mspaw is doing a beauty of a steel barrel that will last you forever...my preference would be to buy one from him ( $45 + $5 domestic/$15 international).
