A buddy of mine gave me an old kit that he had lying around. The resin was so poorly cast that he figured it wasn't worth working on.
The grips were horribly misshapen and it seemed incomplete but I thought I would take a stab at it.
This is the result;

You made nice work of that!

That's how I imagine the "regular" Patrolman's pieces would have looked.

Activated your Picture links.

Like the woodgrip idea a lot. I hope to make some myself someday.

Good job! I'd prefered the silver look (good job with that spray can btw).
I'm somewhat confused; did you say that the amber grips were not good...

Yeah. They don't look bad in pics, but they were warped and wouldn't sit flush. I also felt the color was way too light.

I do think they were the right colour; usually when you put them together (and paint your inside gun grip in black) they tend to be of the same colour as the one in the movie. Warped plastic will be fixed by putting them in hot water and then put some kind of weight on top of it to flatten them back to their original shape.

Yes I second joberg's suggestion , as they don't look to bad in the photos I'd flatten them as best you can using the hot water and weight treatment , allow then to cool , then grind the insides flatter with a belt sander, then polish them really well ( handy tip: - use a good metal polish - but check it can be used on ABS type plastics ) and they should come up looking really good , finishing off your Blaster.

I like the wood grips, but I do wish they were done with a little bit lighter stain. I like seeing the variations on the gun rather than all the same look.

The gun kit also looks like a Starfleet R-D (the Steyr emblem on the bottom of the butt plate should have and R-D in it) which was a recast of RAC Props of course Wink. Some of them had a metal butt plate and trigger guard though.

You have channeled the matsucorp technique. Smile

Love the wood grip adaptation!
