Ironically it was at exactly the same time! I worked in a large mall for a few years 73-76 and watches, pet rocks and chia were serious stuff along with mood rings, pong, disco...

Hate to differ but i am almost 100% sure the dual face watch was a found object. I checked my stuff and don't have pictures but am just about positive someone on the RPF posted name brand and picture of one on eBay.

Now that you mention it, I remember that thread as well, so you're not alone. I may have saved the photos, the problem is my library of BR digital pics is in the thousands, so scrolling through them all takes a long time.

But hey, got the weekend off so I might take the time to do so.

Goodie!

IIRC one image had picture of the watch in it's box with the paperwork sticking up.

I want to say the brand of the watch started with "L" but hate to press that far. I was sure i have saved images as well. I have about 600 but broken down into subfiles. No luck so far. Sad

On the first scan through the BR files on this HD I haven't found the pictures of the watch.

The box sounds right too. Damn. I hope someone can repost those if we can't! Shocked

I'd guess that somebody took two 1970s-era digital watches (Pulsar? Armitron? Cheap knockoff?), removed the bands, and put the watches together head to head. You can see that there seems to be a button or stem on each watch that faces in opposite directions.

Here's a current "retro look" cheap red LED digital watch that is similar in appearance (but not a whole lot)

Here is the mother of all LED watches list.

They have photo pages for hundreds of watches. I checked about 2 dozen possibles.

Somebody wanna take a section and look at each image? I figure I've looked at over 1200 images tonite and I'm done in.

Can't find them either. But dammit I remember that thread! Cool

I did find a "ricoh" model watch that I felt resembled it enough to follow "ricoh" as a lead.

I miss working at the thrift store. I used to find watches like that all the time but because they didn't work they usually got tossed. I got a lot of cool stuff working their to potentially make props out of.

Even if we find a single face watch of same style/design/brand we are further along the trail.

I went back to the rpf and did a pretty exstensive search for the thread with the watch pictures and never found the sucker. If memory serves though, the pictures cropped up in a blaster thread, or a costume thread, and I searched every forum for several keywords and never got lucky.

perhaps the BRmafia is involved . . . .

But here is to hoping that someone find it!!

I'm pretty sure the pic where the watch is in a display box was fan made. I can't find the pic on my harddrive yet but I'll keep searching.

If I remember right the paper insert had a pic of bryant on it even.

Thanks nick. For some odd reason I seem to remeber discussionnabout one popping up on ebay every now and then...however, that may have been reference to watches used to make the replica in the picture.

I've seen that picture (2nd one) of the fan watch on a prop site way back when. IIRC it is on the same site as the one Andy shows with the Bryant illustration.

Not as accurate as the boxed watch I saw. I swear it was dead-on and getting more accurrate by the minute! Very Happy
