Eltee wanted some comparison shots , well here's a couple using the barrel as a comparison ,
The first couple of shots show three barrels two are Mspaws CSC steel ones, and one is Rich's
I gunsmith blued the clean steel one ( shown in the middle) then plated and 'pewter blacked' Rich's (right side) , them I plated blued and weathered the other Mspaw's (left side) seeing them side by side you can see both the differences and simularities , I'm going to 'Parkerize' some pieces this weekend, so I'll post sample photos, when I'm finished
Here's another shot , then ones taken from the front
obviously as you are now seeing them from the front Rich's is now on the left and the 'weatherd' Mspaw on the right.
and one to finish, with flash

I agree, mspaw's barrel seems to stand out above the others. |

Yes , that's because it's real CNC steel and gunsmithed blued properly. The other Mspaw was weathered ,using hobbly paints and weathering kits and the Coyle is Pewter Blacked to give you comparisons . |

Great photos. Thanks. What a difference using real steel and gun bluing. Nice side by side comparison. |

Now same three barrels with an additional forth, and an upper receiver ,
Now can you tell which is the Parkerized barrel , the upper receiver has been plated and 'parkerized' and is the very first one.
unfortunately the photos do not really do the piece justice , is has that oily sheen that 'Blued' metal has and as you can see the reflection of the barrels in the photo, the upper reciever is still quite shiney , and no loss of detail !
and two from the other side of the receiver, showing the barrel muzzles
Just to let you know - only one of the barrels is properly gun blued steel, the first one the left in the pictures , all the other's are Parkerized the exceptions being the pewter ones are plated nickel as is the receiver first then 'Parkerized' close examination will reveal which is which especially at the other end of the barrel - but in general you can't tell then apart - I think a drink is in order - sucess !!
now to add then to a build and do some better shots!. |

Propsjonnyb, I don't mean to be a whiner, but your photos could really benefit from being a bit more in focus. Has anyone else mentioned this to you? Aside from that, congratulations on your consistently great work. |

Ok , here are a few shots of the completely nickel electroplate blaster in it's virgin state , with a couple of close ups and by complete I mean all the metal parts are electroplated , the drum , the gun frame the barrel , the inner and outer handle , trigger guard and triggers and even the hammer . I'll dismantle it tomorrow to give the bit their parkerize bath !
More to follow - watch this space ! |
